X1 has unveiled a new capability within its X1 Enterprise Platform, enabling organizations to deploy AI models directly to enterprise data sources for in-place analysis without requiring the movement or copying of sensitive corporate data.
Historically, enterprise AI workflows have been largely confined to centralized, structured data repositories or limited subsets of unstructured data. This limitation meant that a significant portion of critical corporate data, often unstructured, remained beyond the reach of modern AI systems. X1’s latest innovation addresses this challenge by introducing transformative in-place AI workflows.
This innovation allows organizations or their service provider partners to deploy both open-source and proprietary large language models (LLMs) directly to X1’s distributed micro-indexes. This facilitates real-time data analysis across various enterprise data assets, including emails, documents, and chats.
Kelly Twigger, CEO of Minerva26, commented, “X1’s new implementation represents AI that serves the client, rather than focusing on data monetization. By addressing the cost driver—data movement—it has the potential to lower discovery spend, enhance compliance, and assist companies in leveraging their information for internal value and more effective legal narratives.”
Unlike traditional workflows that necessitate copying and transferring sensitive unstructured data to third-party AI providers—a significant hurdle for many organizations due to security, scalability, and cost concerns—X1 brings the AI directly to the data. This approach aims to eliminate risk, latency, and unnecessary data duplication, fundamentally redefining enterprise AI deployment to be scalable, secure, and truly in-place.
William Belt, Managing Director and Consulting Practice Leader at Complete Discovery Source, stated, “Enabling AI in-place where our corporate client’s data resides is impactful. We anticipate collaborating with our clients to deploy AI models, whether pre-trained or customized for specific matters or compliance requirements, utilizing the X1 Enterprise platform.”
Larry Gill, CEO of X1, added, “The unique capability of our distributed micro-indexing technology is reshaping how corporate enterprises consider AI deployment. By enabling the forward deployment of advanced AI models across a global organization, companies can achieve enhanced operational efficiency, cost savings, and analytical insight. X1 is facilitating AI at enterprise scale, in-place.”
Powered by X1’s proprietary distributed micro-indexing technology, this new capability allows organizations to integrate third-party AI models and perform true “AI in-place” across the enterprise. This involves bringing intelligence to the data rather than moving data to the AI. X1 enables secure execution of AI-driven analytics across both on-premises and cloud data sources at scale, mitigating the risks, costs, and delays associated with large-scale data movement.
Once LLMs are deployed into the X1 micro-indexes, X1 will automatically apply AI-informed tags that can be queried globally from a central console, facilitating targeted collection or remediation. This advancement ushers in an era of pre-collection, enterprise-wide AI, unlocking applications such as in-place Technology Assisted Review (TAR) for legal and eDiscovery, AI data classification workflows for Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC), and real-time information security and audit analytics at petabyte scale—all performed without duplicating or relocating sensitive corporate data.
X1 announced it would host a webinar on Wednesday, December 10, to provide a detailed overview and live demonstration of this new capability. The X1 Enterprise Platform is currently available through X1 and its global channel network, supporting cloud, on-premises, and on-demand professional services deployments.
