Worldline, a global leader in payment services, and YeePay, a prominent Chinese third-party payment provider, have announced a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing cross-border payment solutions for the aviation and travel industries. This collaboration combines Worldline’s extensive global acquiring network and its leadership in European aviation payments with YeePay’s strong foothold in China’s travel payment ecosystem, creating a unified solution for international and Chinese carriers.

The partnership introduces a one-stop payment solution designed to streamline transactions for international airlines operating in China and Chinese airlines expanding into global markets. Worldline contributes its international reach, settlement capabilities, and regulatory compliance expertise through its Global Collect platform. YeePay, in turn, provides its deep local market knowledge and technical proficiency in facilitating payments within the Chinese travel and airline sectors.

With YeePay now integrated into Worldline’s acquiring network, airlines and travel businesses are set to benefit from simplified payment processes, expedited settlements, and adherence to both Chinese and European regulations. This integration is also expected to improve operational efficiency, reduce transaction costs, and enhance the overall customer payment experience across various channels.

For travelers, the partnership translates into greater payment flexibility, allowing the use of local card schemes, international credit cards, and digital wallets. This seamless payment experience is anticipated to decrease transaction friction and stimulate growth in cross-border air travel. The timing of this collaboration aligns with a significant recovery in Chinese cross-border tourism, which has reached 80% of pre-pandemic levels, driven by increased visa-free entry policies and new international routes.

Biljana Bosnjak, Worldline’s Vice President of Travel & Hospitality, stated, “This partnership with YeePay marks an important step in strengthening our footprint in one of the fastest-growing aviation and travel markets in the world. By combining our global network with YeePay’s unrivalled local expertise, we are creating a new benchmark for cross-border payments that benefits airlines, merchants, and travellers alike.”

Yu Chen, Co-founder of YeePay, added, “Joining forces with Worldline allows us to extend our capabilities and support both Chinese and international carriers with faster, safer, and more efficient transactions. Together, we are building solutions that will not only serve the aviation sector but also address future needs across hotels, OTAs, and wider travel industries.”

This strategic alliance represents a key development in cross-border travel payments in China. Both companies have indicated an intention to continue exploring opportunities within the broader travel ecosystem, potentially expanding their solutions beyond aviation to include hospitality and online travel agencies.
