Wise, a global technology company focused on international money movement, has announced a significant expansion of its North American office hub in Austin, Texas. The company will increase its current office space by 200%, bringing the total to 90,000 square feet across three floors in Domain Tower II, a technology innovation center located in North Austin.
This strategic investment underscores Wise’s commitment to North America and reinforces its position as a growing technology firm and a significant employer in the Austin area. The Domain office serves as a central hub for various teams, including engineering, product development, marketing, and customer support. Wise currently employs over 700 individuals in the US and is continuing to recruit across all operational functions.
The company’s global culture is reflected in its physical workplaces, including the Austin office, which features unique collaboration and individual workspaces. These designs aim to foster cross-functional teamwork and innovation. Additionally, the office provides dedicated wellness spaces, such as a multi-faith prayer room, a quiet room, and a wellness room equipped with massage chairs.
Isabel Naidoo, Chief People Officer at Wise, commented on the expansion, stating, “The expansion of our Austin office hub is a powerful testament to the opportunity we have in North America. Austin’s dynamic and developing technology landscape serves as an exciting backdrop that will support the Wise team as we continue to build offerings that meet the international money needs of our growing customer base both locally and globally. We look forward to continuing our growth alongside this city’s success.”
Wise’s expansion comes as customers in North America seek alternatives to high-fee wire transfers, slow international transactions, and unclear foreign exchange costs, problems that Wise aims to address with its services. The Austin office design reflects the city’s environment, incorporating elements like concentric light fixtures inspired by the State Capitol, water-themed art, and murals featuring local bats designed by employees’ children.
Austin Mayor Kirk Watson acknowledged the company’s growth, saying, “Texas is committed to supporting global success stories like Wise as they grow their presence in the US. Wise is a great example of the kind of innovative, high-growth businesses that make Austin a leading hub for tech companies. Its success highlights the strength of our ecosystem – one that fosters entrepreneurship, attracts investments and creates high-skilled jobs. It demonstrates that Austin remains one of the best places to start and grow a business.”
Wise, established in 2011, offers the Wise Account and Wise Business platforms, enabling individuals and companies to hold 40 currencies, transfer money internationally, and spend abroad.
