Unity, a leading platform for game and interactive experience creation, has announced an enhancement to its engine that allows game developers to manage their entire global commerce and catalog from a single dashboard. This initiative aims to simplify cross-platform selling, which traditionally requires navigating multiple SDKs, rules, and payout systems, and includes a strategic partnership with programmable financial services company Stripe.\n\nThe new enhancement will enable developers to integrate various payment providers, optimize for diverse markets, and oversee pricing, promotions, and live operations across mobile app stores, web, and PC. This functionality is designed to free developers from platform-specific tools and restrictions, offering a unified and flexible approach to digital commerce. Unity President and CEO, Matt Bromberg, stated, “The vast majority of games-related IAP transactions happen inside games made with Unity… Unity is dedicated to putting developers in control of their own success wherever their players are.”\n\nMore than $120 billion in global in-app purchases are projected to occur in mobile games, with over 70% of the top 1,000 mobile games built with Unity. This market context highlights the opportunity for a single integration to provide a streamlined path to success in an increasingly fragmented digital marketplace. Mr. Bromberg further emphasized that developers will soon have “a single place to manage and optimize their entire digital catalog across all platforms and devices.”\n\nStripe is the initial partner in this endeavor, providing comprehensive payment flexibility and global coverage. Kevin Miller, Head of Payments at Stripe, commented, “With Stripe’s merchant-of-record solution and app-to-web payments, Unity will soon offer developers both high conversion and low costs, while Stripe manages fraud, disputes, and tax behind the scenes.”\n\nThe new product is currently in limited early access, with Unity collaborating with select customers for production verification to ensure reliable and scalable performance before its general release.
