Unit21, a global leader in risk and compliance technology, has integrated Fingerprint’s device intelligence capabilities into its fraud-fighting platform. This enhancement is designed to provide fintechs with advanced real-time tools to combat financial crimes such as fraud and money laundering.
The updated Unit21 platform now incorporates Fingerprint’s technology, which gathers and analyzes over 100 signals from browsers, devices, and networks. This data is used to identify potential fraud patterns in real time, including repeated login attempts across multiple user accounts.
Dhiraj Bhat, Product Lead for Fraud Solutions at Unit21, commented on the integration: “Combating fraud as a fintech is swift and complex. Without the right tools, the speed of crime will continue to outpace the speed of prevention.” He added that embedding Fingerprint’s device intelligence into Unit21 elevates real-time fraud prevention, enabling teams to prevent threats rather than just reviewing them post-occurrence.
Fintechs using the combined Unit21 and Fingerprint solution gain access to persistent, highly accurate device IDs and real-time Smart Signals, such as Bot Detection and VPN Detection. These capabilities are intended to address various complex fraud types, including:
Credential stuffing: Designed to detect bot activity and repeated login attempts across multiple accounts from the same device.
Elder & emergency scams: Aims to identify suspicious activity like new or unrecognized devices accessing an account and IP geolocation mismatches, which can signal exploitation attempts against vulnerable users.
Tech support scams: Focuses on detecting the use of virtual machines, developer tools, and abnormal device behavior, such as unusual spikes in activity or new logins from unfamiliar devices or locations.
Geolocation spoofing: Works to detect mismatched time zones, the use of proxies, and other methods employed by fraudsters to evade detection.
The addition of Fingerprint’s device intelligence complements Unit21’s existing fraud and AML prevention solution, which includes real-time fraud detection, dynamic risk modeling, scalable compliance automation, and flexible data ingestion.
Shaun Per, Vice President of Global Sales at Fingerprint, stated: “We’re thrilled to partner with Unit21 to integrate advanced device intelligence with one of the industry’s leading fraud and AML platforms.” He emphasized that combining Fingerprint’s accuracy and reliability with Unit21’s platform will deliver real-time signals to detect and stop fraud more quickly, enhancing customer protection.
Unit21 specializes in solutions that identify and mitigate risks related to money laundering, fraud, and other illicit activities, having raised nearly $100 million from investors including Google and Tiger Global.
