The Sandbox, an immersive metaverse platform and subsidiary of Animoca Brands, has announced a strategic collaboration with Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group to adapt the entertainment brand’s acclaimed performances into two new interactive games within its virtual world.
This collaboration will feature Cirque du Soleil headlining the upcoming Alpha Season 6 in The Sandbox, transporting players into virtual environments inspired by its theatrical heritage. Players will engage with interactive games, referred to as “Experiences,” based on two of Cirque du Soleil’s celebrated shows: “Luzia” and a second show yet to be disclosed. These experiences aim to merge narrative with spectacle, reflecting the vibrancy and emotion of a live Cirque performance through The Sandbox’s metaverse gameplay. Additionally, the partnership will introduce a series of limited-edition, themed digital collectibles and avatars for in-game use across The Sandbox.

Beyond the primary experiences, The Sandbox will release Cirque du Soleil-branded assets, enabling its creator community to develop their own user-generated content. This initiative is designed to unlock new creative possibilities for end-user-designed experiences inspired by Cirque’s artistry.

Details of the collaboration were shared this week in New York during a keynote session at NFT.NYC. The event also featured the unveiling of various real-world and digital experiences celebrating the partnership, including a preview of Cirque du Soleil’s metaverse debut and a live short performance.
