Splash Sports, a peer-to-peer fantasy sports and skill games platform, has secured approval from the New York State Gaming Commission to offer QuickPicks, its daily fantasy sports (DFS) player pick’em style game, in New York. This development marks Splash Sports as the first new licensed fantasy sports operator in the state in nearly a decade and only the second to offer a player pick’em style game.
Following the 2024 approval, New York users gained access to Splash Sports’ popular One and Done, Tiers, and licensed player pick’em daily fantasy sports (DFS) contests starting December 23, 2024. The platform’s expansion into New York is part of its growth strategy.
Splash Sports launched in July 2023 following the acquisition and integration of RunYourPool (RYP) and OfficeFootballPool (OFP), which were established leaders in free-to-play games. The combined platforms currently serve over two million users across 40 U.
S. states, Washington D.
C., and Canada (excluding Quebec).
TJ Ross, co-CEO of Splash Sports, commented on the significance of the expansion, stating, “New York is a vital state for us. New Yorkers are passionate about their sports teams and ultra-competitive, as demonstrated on our entertainment-only platforms RYP and OFP. Expanding our paid football, basketball, baseball, golf and hockey contests — including our licensed player pick’em games — to the Empire State marks an important step in our growth strategy.” Joel Milton, co-CEO, added, “After receiving the first fantasy license awarded in NY in nearly a decade last year, we are now excited and ready to launch Splash’s player games. We’ve worked hard to build an industry-leading fantasy site that not only provides a great user experience but also proactively protects its players and promotes responsible gaming habits. It’s great that our hard work has been recognized by the New York State Gaming Commission.”
A key differentiator for Splash Sports is its entirely peer-to-peer contest model, where participants compete against one another rather than against the platform. This structure allows commissioners to create private groups, customize contest settings, build communities, and interact directly with their players.
Founded in 2021 and headquartered in Denver, Colorado, Splash Sports is supported by venture capital firms including Accomplice, Boston Seed Capital, Acies Investments, Dream Ventures, and Velvet Sea Ventures. The platform offers numerous fantasy sports and skill game formats.
