ShipStation Enhances International Shipping with Guaranteed Prepaid Duties and Taxes

Share It:

ShipStation, a shipping and logistics solution, has introduced a guaranteed prepaid duties and taxes feature to streamline international shipping for U.

S. merchants, allowing customers to pay all associated fees upfront and avoid unexpected post-delivery charges.

The new feature aims to simplify the delivered duty paid (DDP) process, which has become increasingly complex due to fluctuating global shipping pricing and requirements. This enhancement allows merchants to confirm duty and tax costs directly within ShipStation’s platform during label purchase, ensuring that amounts will not change post-shipment and eliminating surprise adjustments.

Kelly Vincent, Chief Product Officer at Auctane, ShipStation’s parent company, commented on the development, stating, “Cross-border shipping is more complex than ever for merchants navigating the unpredictability of global logistics. So we do the work for them.” Vincent added that the solution “takes the guesswork out of the process to give our customers peace of mind. They can choose the right international shipping option with confidence, knowing they won’t face any surprise charges afterward. It’s another way we’re simplifying the end-to-end customer experience and providing transparency into the overall cost of shipping around the world.”

This functionality is available for shipments utilizing UPS, FedEx, and DHL Express, accessible through both the ShipStation platform and its API. The company states that with automated customs forms and discounted shipping rates, the entire international order shipping process is designed to be more simplified and cost-effective.

ShipStation, a member of the Auctane family of companies, is headquartered in Austin, TX, and has provided online shipping solutions since 2011. The platform serves tens of thousands of e-commerce businesses daily, offering over 400 integrations and partnerships with leading shopping carts, marketplaces, carriers, and fulfillment services, including USPS, UPS, FedEx, GlobalPost, Amazon, Shopify, and BigCommerce.
