Salesforce has announced a collaboration with Stripe and OpenAI to integrate an Instant Checkout solution into Agentforce Commerce, guided by the new Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP), aiming to provide conversational AI-driven purchasing experiences for merchants.

The initiative addresses a significant shift in the shopping landscape, where agentic commerce is gaining traction. Research by Salesforce indicates that 48% of shoppers already using AI for shopping are open to having an AI agent complete purchases on their behalf, signaling a move from traditional online shopping.

The Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP), co-developed by Stripe and OpenAI, offers a standardized framework for retailers to engage with consumers through AI agents and facilitate instant checkout. Agentforce Commerce will build an Instant Checkout integration aligned with ACP and Stripe, enabling buyers to use various payment methods, including Link, Stripe’s consumer payments product.

Stripe, a programmable financial services company, contributes its secure infrastructure to this partnership, extending an existing collaboration that established Salesforce Payments. This infrastructure is designed to support the smooth and reliable transactions essential for agentic commerce, allowing merchants to launch commerce solutions faster, transact across channels, and reduce costs by avoiding extensive custom integrations. The collaboration provides an end-to-end solution, with Agentforce Commerce managing storefronts and customer relationships, and Stripe providing the necessary financial infrastructure for purchases.

Nitin Mangtani, GM of Commerce Cloud and Retail at Salesforce, commented on the collaboration: “Through our collaboration with Stripe on the ACP, we are delivering the unified system designed for the future of agentic commerce, creating a dramatically faster and more personalized path to purchase.” He added that this shift is intended to empower merchants to drive revenue growth and build customer loyalty.

Merchants using Agentforce Commerce are expected to benefit from enhanced shopper experiences, leading to increased customer satisfaction and loyalty. The integration is also anticipated to boost sales and conversion rates by anticipating customer needs and streamlining the purchasing process. Additionally, businesses may experience operational efficiencies through the automation of sales cycle aspects, from product discovery to checkout, and potentially open new revenue streams by leveraging AI agents. Adopting agentic commerce early is positioned as a way for businesses to remain competitive in a evolving digital market.

Maia Josebachvili, Chief Revenue Officer of AI at Stripe, stated, “We’re excited to partner with Salesforce to help merchants using Agentforce Commerce thrive in the agentic commerce era. Together with OpenAI, we’re enabling businesses to reach millions of new buyers by helping turn discovery into purchase inside ChatGPT.”

Salesforce is committed to assisting customers in implementing agentic commerce experiences across various channels. The recently introduced Guided Shopping for Agentforce Commerce allows retailers to create branded shopper agents for their digital storefronts. Integration with Customer 360, encompassing Agentforce Marketing, Service, Order Management, and Data 360, aims to deliver hyperpersonalization at scale. This allows shoppers interacting with a retailer’s Guided Shopping agent to receive tailored recommendations, make inquiries, complete checkout, track orders, and process returns within a single conversational interaction. This unified intelligence seeks to improve conversion rates and increase cart sizes.

This partnership between Salesforce and Stripe, integrating with the Agentic Commerce Protocol, is presented as a significant development for the future of shopping, enabling businesses to provide AI-powered commerce experiences.
