Safe Software has announced the availability of its FME Remote Engines Service on Snowflake Marketplace, enabling Snowflake users to run FME’s high-performance engine directly within Snowpark Container Services for faster and more secure data integration and transformation.
This new deployment model significantly reduces processing time by up to 30% by allowing the FME engine to operate within customers’ Snowflake environments. The native integration provides users with the option to transition FME data processing workflows that connect Snowflake from external execution to internal operation.
Since 2019, Safe Software, headquartered in Surrey, British Columbia, has collaborated with Snowflake to facilitate migrations to Snowflake and enhance connectivity across various systems. The FME data ecosystem supports thousands of systems and formats, including LiDAR point clouds (LAS/LAZ), cloud-optimized GeoTIFFs (COG), scientific datasets such as NetCDF and HDF5, and complex BIM/CAD designs like Revit and IFC files. This extensive support allows organizations to integrate advanced spatial, sensor, and 3D data with their core business intelligence for more comprehensive insights.
Don Murray, CEO of Safe Software, stated, “This is an important step as we extend value for our shared customers, enabling enterprises to more confidently modernize their systems and bring life to all their data. Harnessing the power of data and AI is critical for all organizations today, and the expanded Snowflake and Safe Software integration will enable users to leverage the best that both platforms have to offer.”
Kieran Kennedy, VP, Data Cloud Product Partners at Snowflake, commented, “As our users bring their data to the Snowflake AI Data Cloud, while keeping pace with advancements in AI, partners like Safe Software help us deliver choice to customers. Bringing Safe Software’s FME Remote Engines Service to Snowflake Marketplace will help to provide our joint customers with increased access, streamlined data flows, and the ability to make better business decisions.”
Safe Software, founded in 1993, is the creator of FME, an enterprise integration platform known for its comprehensive support for spatial data. The FME Platform features built-in support for thousands of systems and over 800 out-of-the-box transformers, enabling users to build and automate custom integration workflows without coding.
Globally, over 20,000 organizations in more than 120 countries rely on FME technology for their enterprise integration solutions.
