Operation HOPE, a national nonprofit dedicated to supporting low- and moderate-income Americans, has announced the release of the 2025 Annual Report from its AI Ethics Council (AIEC), highlighting a year of transition from conceptual discussions to practical implementation in fostering ethical and inclusive artificial intelligence.
The report was unveiled during the Annual Meeting of the Hope Global Forums held in Atlanta. Co-chaired by John Hope Bryant, Founder, Chairman & CEO of Operation HOPE, and Sam Altman, Founder of OpenAI, the AIEC has championed Future Literacy™ as a new global standard. This concept merges financial literacy with AI literacy, aiming to advance economic dignity and digital opportunity in the AI era.
Key achievements outlined in the 2025 report include the formation of five specialized AIEC committees focused on Business & Entrepreneurship, Education, Healthcare, Policy/Regulation/Governance, and Employment & Workforce Development, each with defined outcomes and leadership. The council also launched HOPE AI™, a grassroots initiative designed to scale AI coaching across communities nationwide by partnering with leading nonprofit organizations and utilizing the established HOPE Inside model.
Furthermore, the AIEC, in collaboration with Georgia State University, successfully conducted the inaugural AILP-3 (AI Literacy Pipeline to Prosperity) Summer Institute, providing training to nearly 40 high-school students to develop them into future AI innovators. The council also expanded its board with the addition of three globally recognized members: H.
E. Omar Sultan Al Olama, the world’s first Minister of AI for the UAE; Dean Richard Phillips of Georgia State University; and Hon. Robert Silvers, former Under Secretary for the Department of Homeland Security.
Operation HOPE’s AI Ethics Council played a significant role in the historic collaboration between OpenAI and the King Estate, which resulted in strengthening ethical guidelines concerning historical figures in generative AI. The report emphasizes the foundational role of Future Literacy™ as the unifying framework guiding all AI initiatives undertaken by Operation HOPE.
John Hope Bryant stated, “The AI Ethics Council was created to ensure that the promise of artificial intelligence expands dignity, opportunity, and economic freedom for everyone. Over this last year, with partners across sectors and communities, we’ve proven that we can achieve ethical, inclusive AI for all, and we are excited to continue building on the work so far.”The complete 2025 AI Ethics Council Annual Report is accessible on the Operation HOPE website at https://operationhope.org/initiatives/ai-ethics-council/.
