Nubank Appoints Ethan Eismann as Inaugural Chief Design Officer

Nubank, a global digital financial services platform, has announced the appointment of Ethan Eismann as its first Chief Design Officer (CDO). This newly created executive position aims to enhance customer experience across Nubank’s expanding product and service ecosystem.

Reporting to David Vélez, Nubank’s founder and CEO, Mr. Eismann will be responsible for the global strategy and execution of design across all product lines. His role involves driving innovation at scale through collaboration with the Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Business teams. Mr. Eismann brings two decades of experience leading design at major technology companies, including Google, Adobe, Uber, Airbnb, and Slack.

David Vélez stated that Mr. Eismann’s expertise in building digital products would be crucial for Nubank’s continued innovation and expansion, ensuring design anticipates customer needs. Mr. Eismann expressed his enthusiasm for shaping the future of personal banking and finance at Nubank.

Prior to joining Nubank, Mr. Eismann served as SVP of Design at Slack, where he managed the platform’s development. At Airbnb, he held dual roles as Global Design Director for the Homes business and GM of the Guest team, integrating design and business strategy. His tenure at Uber saw him play a key role in shaping the user experience for their ride-sharing and delivery services. At Google, he led global design for Google Payments, including the development of Google Wallet and Android Pay. His career began at Adobe, where he led design for products like Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat, and oversaw the launch of Adobe’s Creative Cloud, facilitating the company’s transition to a subscription-based revenue model.
