Novata, a sustainability management partner for private markets, has expanded its collaboration with S&P Global Sustainable1 to offer corporates and investors enhanced tools for sustainability data management and reporting.

The expanded collaboration integrates S&P Global’s sustainability expertise with Novata’s technology platform. This partnership aims to make sustainability management more accessible and effective for companies and investors by addressing key areas: carbon emissions, regulatory disclosure, and performance benchmarking.

For carbon management, clients can now calculate and manage Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions using Novata’s Carbon Navigator, supported by S&P Global Sustainable1’s expertise and the Trucost Carbon Dataset. In regulatory compliance, the Novata platform facilitates the capture of audit-ready data for disclosure, informed by S&P Global Sustainable1’s sustainability reporting services. Furthermore, the collaboration enables organizations to measure and benchmark their sustainability performance against S&P Global’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) framework, streamlining data collection and reporting on the Novata platform.

Alex Friedman, CEO & Co-Founder of Novata, stated, “This expansion builds on the strength of our partnership with S&P and our shared commitment to advancing sustainability in private markets.” He added, “With S&P Global’s unmatched sustainability intelligence and our market-leading platform, we are equipping organizations of every size to act decisively on sustainability as a driver of resilience and value creation.”

Novata’s platform is designed to simplify sustainability data management and carbon accounting. Complementing this, S&P Global Sustainable1 contributes essential sustainability intelligence through its recognized methodologies and industry insights. This joint offering provides companies with the necessary insights to manage climate risks, identify opportunities, and foster long-term resilience.

Leanne Todd, Head of Energy Transition, Sustainability & Services, S&P Global Commodity Insights, commented, “S&P Global Sustainable1 is committed to providing essential sustainability intelligence that meets clients where they are.” She further noted, “The expansion of our collaboration with Novata will allow more organizations to access the tools that they need to manage risk, uncover opportunities and report with confidence.”

S&P Global (NYSE: SPGI) was part of the consortium of organizations that supported Novata’s launch in 2021, establishing a foundational relationship for this current expansion. Novata currently empowers hundreds of investment firms and over 10,000 companies in their sustainability goals.
