Xpansiv, a global market infrastructure provider for environmental commodities, has been selected by the State of New York to develop the technology platform for a new greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reporting system. This initiative, led by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), aims to enhance the state’s broader GHG reduction efforts.
The platform will utilize Xpansiv’s advanced registry infrastructure to track GHG data, ensuring traceability and transparency across regulated reporting obligations. These obligations are outlined in New York’s draft Mandatory GHG Reporting Rule, which is currently undergoing review following a public comment period.
Katie Doyle, Senior Vice President, Registries of Xpansiv, stated, “With this deployment, we’re demonstrating how registry technology can meet the increasing demand for transparency and accountability in emissions reporting.” She added that the solution could be adopted by other states, particularly as federal support fluctuates, providing consistent and reliable tracking across sectors such as agriculture and power.
Doyle further commented, “New York is again setting a national precedent by introducing a comprehensive, tech-enabled emissions reporting platform.” She affirmed Xpansiv’s commitment to supporting the state’s leadership in developing actionable climate policy through digital infrastructure. The platform is designed to underpin data integrity as New York progresses with its clean energy transition.
