The partnership is designed to enable NatWest to provide more intuitive, engaging, and personalized services to its 20 million customers. This will be achieved by integrating the advanced cloud, AI, and banking expertise from Accenture and AWS, allowing NatWest to anticipate and respond to customer needs more swiftly and effectively. Concurrently, the collaboration seeks to improve the skills of NatWest colleagues and cultivate a data-driven culture by providing access to new AI technologies that facilitate more efficient customer service.

The initiative supports NatWest’s strategic priorities, including disciplined growth through a holistic view of each customer’s relationship. This involves introducing advanced data capabilities for relationship managers, equipping them with tools for deeper insights, and integrating data and analytics into customer interactions for personalized and proactive experiences. Bank-wide simplification is also a key focus, with the acceleration of data stream consolidation into a single, AI-enabled platform. This is expected to lead to a more efficient banking experience, including faster onboarding through digital verification and streamlined documentation processes, as well as improved operational performance, process automation, and cost reduction. Furthermore, the collaboration aims to enhance active balance sheet and risk management through higher quality data, supporting robust security measures, efficient complaints handling, improved fraud prevention, agile capital management, and more efficient financial, risk, and regulatory reporting.

Paul Thwaite, CEO of NatWest Group, commented on the collaboration, stating it is crucial for NatWest’s transformation into a more technology and data-driven bank. He highlighted the rapid changes in the industry and customer expectations, emphasizing the goal to better understand and serve customer needs through AI and other technologies, providing personalized products as a trusted partner.

Julie Sweet, Chair and CEO of Accenture, noted NatWest’s vision to seamlessly connect its products, channels, and customer touchpoints using data, aiming to simplify banking and offer personalized experiences. He emphasized AWS’s experience in financial services technology, noting NatWest’s efforts to set new banking standards as a more agile, customer-focused institution.
