Matt Middleton and Anil D. Aggarwal have announced the acquisition of a majority stake in ETF.com from ETFS Capital, which will retain a minority interest. Middleton will assume the role of CEO, leading the platform’s transformation into a vibrant multimedia hub focused on innovative events, high-impact networking, and engaging content that informs and connects investors, financial advisors, and industry professionals across the exchange-traded funds (ETF) space.

Under Middleton’s leadership, ETF.com is poised to redefine its role as a premier destination for ETF education and community engagement. The strategic acquisition aims to infuse the creative, attendee-first approach that has characterized Middleton’s previous ventures into the ETF.com platform.

Matt Middleton is the founder and CEO of Future Proof, an event brand focused on modernizing and advancing the wealth and investment management industry. His experience includes scaling Inside ETFs into a global franchise during his tenure at Informa and launching Exchange ETF, which he sold following its successful inaugural edition. Middleton will continue his leadership role at Future Proof concurrently with his new responsibilities at ETF.com.

Anil D. Aggarwal is recognized for founding and leading significant events in the fintech sector, including Money20/20 and Fintech Meetup, two of the largest US fintech events. His ventures have generated over $500 million in enterprise value through multiple successful event exits over the past decade, underscoring his strategic insights and operational expertise in community-driven platforms.

Middleton stated, “ETF.com has tremendous potential to become the premier destination for ETF education and community engagement. We’re bringing the creative, attendee-first approach that fueled Future Proof’s success to ETF.com, creating compelling events and networking that will redefine the industry dialogue.” Aggarwal added, “We see an incredible opportunity to create something truly unique and impactful in the ETF space. Our combined experience in building innovative events and immersive experiences positions us perfectly to deliver exceptional value and drive deep, industry-wide engagement.”

Martyn James, Managing Partner at ETFS Capital, commented on the acquisition, stating, “As the largest outside investor in Future Proof, we’ve enjoyed a close working relationship with Matt and Anil and have been consistently impressed by what they’ve built—not only with Future Proof, but throughout their careers. Looking ahead to the future of ETF.com and the evolving media landscape, we couldn’t imagine a stronger team to lead the business into its next chapter.”

The terms of the deal were not disclosed. Further details regarding ETF.com’s forthcoming event lineup and multimedia initiatives are expected to be announced in the near future.
