US-based card issuing platform Marqeta has appointed Mike Milotich as its permanent Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately, following a search completed on September 9, 2025.

Milotich, who first joined Marqeta as Chief Financial Officer in February 2022, took on the role of interim CEO in February this year. He will continue to serve as CFO while the board of directors identifies his successor.

Board chair Judson Linville noted Milotich’s impact, stating he “played a key role in strengthening the company’s operations and financial foundation” during his tenure as CFO.

Before joining Marqeta, Milotich spent a decade at Visa, where he held the position of senior vice president of corporate finance and investor relations. His industry background also includes business analysis roles at PayPal and American Express.

Milotich’s appointment follows the departure of former CEO Simon Khalaf earlier this year, who had succeeded founder Jason Gardner two years prior.
