Kredete, a New York-based fintech company specializing in financial services for African immigrants in North America, has secured $22 million in a Series A funding round, bringing its total funding to $24.75 million. The capital is designated for international expansion into Canada, the UK, and other European markets, alongside the introduction of new product features.

The Series A round was led by Tunisian VC AfricInvest through its Cathay AfricInvest Innovation Fund and Financial Inclusion Vehicle. Additional backing came from Partech and Polymorphic Capital. This follows a $2.25 million seed raise in October 2024, which was led by Blockchain Founders Fund.

Founded in 2023 by CEO Adeola Adedewe, Kredete’s platform integrates international money transfers with a proprietary credit-building engine. This system allows users to send money to over 30 African countries while simultaneously improving their credit history in the United States. The company currently reports over 700,000 monthly users and works with approximately 1,200 lending partners, having facilitated $500 million in remittances since its launch.

Beyond its consumer-facing services, Kredete also provides API-based infrastructure that leverages stablecoin rails to enable businesses to execute cross-border payments into Africa.

Upcoming product developments include tools for rent reporting, credit-linked savings plans, and goal-based loans. Kredete also plans to introduce what it describes as “Africa’s first stablecoin-backed credit card,” which will be rolled out to users in over 41 African countries. The company further aims to launch interest-bearing USD and EUR accounts. A specific timeline for these new offerings has not been disclosed.

Commenting on the fundraise, Adeola Adedewe stated, “We’re building a system that rewards financial responsibility across borders. This raise is about scaling that infrastructure globally, and making sure that the millions of Africans abroad are finally seen, scored, and served.” The funding was announced on September 18, 2025.
