Kooperativa, a prominent Czech insurance company and part of the Vienna Insurance Group, has selected Camunda’s process orchestration and automation platform to centralize and modernize its complex insurance processes.

Kooperativa aims to orchestrate high volumes of process and decision instances within its core insurance systems, enhancing reliability, compliance, performance, and scalability. This move is part of “The Neuron Project,” an initiative to develop a modern platform for managing the full lifecycle of insurance contracts.

The first phase of the implementation will support citizens’ property insurance, with the platform designed for flexibility and scalability to accommodate other business lines in the future.

“Camunda gives us the control and flexibility we need to modernize our core systems while remaining compliant and responsive to customer needs,” said Pavel Kraus, head of BPM Center of Excellence at Kooperativa. “We can now design and deploy changes in our business processes faster, ensure consistent execution across departments, and gain better visibility into our automated processes. It’s a major step forward in delivering efficient, high-quality service at scale.”

Lukáš Zelenka, project manager at Kooperativa, added that working with Camunda’s consulting and support teams is enabling the company to build resilient, scalable process automation while adhering to regulatory standards and finance best practices. He noted that Camunda’s architecture and robust monitoring capabilities allow proactive management of system health and performance, ensuring uptime and reliability across critical services.

Frederic Meier, senior vice president of sales at Camunda, commented, “Kooperativa is a great example of how insurers can use automation to adapt and lead in a highly regulated, customer-focused industry. With Camunda, they’re not just improving internal efficiency — they’re building a future-proof foundation for innovation across all lines of business.”

Kooperativa is a universal insurance company in the Czech Republic, offering a full range of services for citizens, small businesses, and large enterprises. It is one of the largest Czech insurance companies, managing over 4.7 million contracts for almost 2.5 million clients, with annual written premiums exceeding 47 billion CZK and a market share over 24%. It operates 300 sales locations throughout the Czech Republic and partners with Česká spořitelna. Kooperativa is a part of the Vienna Insurance Group, a major Central European insurance conglomerate with a tradition spanning 195 years.
