Swedish FinTech firm Klarna has announced a strategic partnership with Google Cloud, leveraging its comprehensive AI stack to advance consumer-centric products, personalized marketing campaigns, and bolster security measures for its 114 million global customers.
The collaboration, made public on October 10, 2025, will initially prioritize improvements to the Klarna mobile application’s user experience. Klarna is set to integrate Google’s most recent generative media models, including Veo 2 and Gemini 2.5 Flash Image (Nano Banana). This integration aims to create “digital lookbooks” that deliver tailored shopping experiences directly within the app interface.
The scope of AI integration also encompasses Klarna’s marketing operations. Google’s AI models will be deployed to generate customized promotional campaigns, adapted to individual user preferences. David Sandström, Klarna’s Chief Marketing Officer, reported that initial pilot programs have yielded measurable outcomes, stating: “AI-driven creative concepts, from dynamic digital lookbooks to hyper-personalised product campaigns, boosted time spent in our app by 15% and increased orders by 50%”.
Furthermore, the partnership is designed to enhance Klarna’s security infrastructure. The Stockholm-based Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) company plans to implement Google Cloud’s AI hardware. This will facilitate the development of graph neural networks specifically engineered to identify fraudulent activities and detect money laundering attempts across its platform, which processes approximately 2.9 million transactions daily.
Klarna, which commenced trading on the New York Stock Exchange in September 2025, joins several prominent financial institutions, including Citi, Lloyds, and Wells Fargo, in utilizing Google Cloud’s AI solutions over the past year.
