Kikoff, a credit-building platform serving over a million consumers, has launched AI Credit Disputes, a new feature designed to help users identify and correct inaccuracies on their credit reports.
The new tool, now available within the Kikoff app, is the latest addition to the company’s expanding suite of solutions aimed at broadening access to financial services for individuals historically underserved by traditional systems. This initiative aligns with Kikoff’s mission to offer affordable and effective alternatives to what it describes as predatory financial products.
“Mistakes on a credit report can have a real impact on someone’s life, but many people don’t know where to start or feel overwhelmed by the process,” stated Cynthia Chen, Founder and CEO of Kikoff. “We built AI Credit Disputes to make it easier for people to take that first step. By using AI to simplify the process and giving users a clear path forward, we’re helping them take back control and make real progress.”
Credit report errors are a common issue; Consumer Reports indicates that 44 percent of individuals who reviewed their credit reports found at least one error. For many Kikoff users, who are actively building credit and may have an average of 18 derogatory marks, these errors can significantly impede their financial objectives. Disputing such errors has historically been a complex process, often leading individuals to seek costly credit repair services, some of which charge over $300 monthly.
Kikoff’s AI Credit Disputes offers a free and simplified alternative for its users. During a two-month pilot program involving a segment of its user base, the feature facilitated the dispute of over 70,000 credit report errors. This number is expected to rise as the tool rolls out to all one million-plus active Kikoff users. The AI-powered system generates personalized, FCRA-compliant dispute letters tailored to each user’s specific situation, aiming to enhance the effectiveness of the dispute process compared to generic templates.
Ashley Weeks, a Kikoff user from Florida, shared her experience: “Before Kikoff, I had tried submitting disputes on my own, but the process was confusing. I’ve used Kikoff’s credit disputes multiple times now, and it honestly makes things so much easier. Being able to see the letter that Kikoff prepared gave me more confidence, and I really believe it helped lead to a better outcome.”
Kikoff continues to focus on leveraging AI to dismantle financial barriers, with AI Credit Disputes representing another step in this ongoing effort to provide tools that foster lasting financial progress. The San Francisco-based company states it has helped over 1 million people increase their credit scores by more than 80 million points through its range of products, which also address debt reduction and liquidity access.
