Jetico, a developer of data wiping software, has introduced a new AI-powered data classification feature within its Search tool. This enhancement is designed to enable organizations to automatically categorize files based on their content, aiming to improve data management practices and strengthen compliance efforts.
The new AI-powered classification allows users to organize data by meaning, which facilitates easier data retrieval, protection of sensitive information, and maintenance of compliance controls. The Search tool, along with its new AI classification capability, is integrated into the Enterprise Edition of BCWipe, which includes central management for a unified approach to classifying, identifying, and securely erasing sensitive data.
Jetico CEO Hannaleena Pojanluoma stated that contemporary data management faces challenges beyond just volume, extending to variety. Pojanluoma emphasized that not all data holds equal value, and treating every file uniformly can lead to compliance gaps or security vulnerabilities. The CEO noted that Jetico’s AI-powered classification aims to eliminate the need for manual file sorting or keyword-based searches that may lack context, allowing for automatic data organization based on content meaning.
Key features of the AI-powered classification include local AI processing, which ensures that all classification occurs directly on the endpoint running the central management tool’s engine, maintaining confidentiality by avoiding external data transmission. Users can leverage predefined categories to quickly organize sensitive information to meet common compliance requirements. Additionally, the feature supports custom categories, allowing users to train the AI by uploading example files, which are processed locally to build a semantic profile for improved, meaning-based classification accuracy. The tool also offers enhanced search capabilities, enabling category-based searches to efficiently locate or exclude specific data types. Classified data integrates seamlessly into Jetico’s central management console, providing administrators with the ability to centrally discover, classify, and securely erase sensitive files beyond forensic recovery.
Founded in 1995 and headquartered in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, Finland, Jetico specializes in endpoint data protection software. The company’s BCWipe software is used for securely wiping selected files beyond forensic recovery, and BCWipe Total WipeOut is designed for erasing hard drive data entirely for disposal or decommissioning. Jetico’s BestCrypt offers compliant data encryption for whole disks, virtual drives, and selected files or folders. Jetico Enterprise Editions include central management capabilities for client software control. Jetico’s products are utilized by government and military agencies, U.
S. defense contractors, national laboratories, various other enterprises, and a global base of individual and small business users across more than 100 countries.
