InvoiceCloud Supports Digital Literacy for Boston Seniors Through Partnership with Central Boston Elder Services
InvoiceCloud, a leader in digital bill payment services, has partnered with Central Boston Elder Services (CBES), a nonprofit dedicated to supporting older adults and disabled individuals, to advance digital literacy and internet safety among seniors in Boston through the CBES Computer Lab program.
The initiative aims to provide access to digital tools and foster confidence in technology use, particularly for community members who may face barriers such as limited digital access or language differences. The CBES Computer Lab conducts 12-week sessions where participants gain practical experience with iPads and common technology, including Wi-Fi, Zoom, email, and secure internet browsing. A key aspect of the curriculum addresses internet safety and how to prevent financial fraud, a concern for millions of elderly Americans annually.
To date, InvoiceCloud employees have contributed 80 volunteer hours, assisting more than 40 local seniors in developing their technology skills. InvoiceCloud volunteers participate in the Computer Lab twice weekly during the 10- to 12-week sessions, and company leadership also engages in CBES’s annual fundraising events.
Kevin O’Brien, CEO at InvoiceCloud, commented, “We want to help seniors feel more comfortable using the technology that’s part of everyday life. It starts with small wins and builds from there. As a Boston-based company, we’re proud to support programs like CBES that are strengthening digital confidence in our community.”
In 2025, 69 older adults successfully completed the CBES Computer Lab program. CBES anticipates that between 68 and 70 participants will graduate in 2026, indicating sustained demand for digital literacy support. Sylvia L. Exantus, CEO at Central Boston Elder Services, stated, “Digital access is essential to independence and security. By investing in digital literacy for older adults and people with disabilities, we are helping ensure they can access healthcare, manage finances safely, and remain connected to their communities.”
Katie Johnson, VP, Customer Experience at InvoiceCloud, added, “Our team has found great value and joy in partnering with CBES and spending time in our community helping others gain the skills they need to operate in a digital-first world. As InvoiceCloud continues to grow, we hope to broaden our impact by supporting similar organizations in communities across the country.”
