iGUIDE, a Canadian provider of property documentation technology, has announced a partnership with professional builder and HGTV host Mike Holmes to highlight the importance of precise property data in improving outcomes for construction professionals, designers, inspectors, and homeowners.

The collaboration aims to raise awareness about how accurate information can mitigate common construction challenges. Industry data indicates that miscommunication accounts for approximately 26% of all construction rework, while inaccurate data contributes another 14-22%. Rework is a persistent issue in construction, often consuming 5–10% or more of a project’s total budget.

iGUIDE addresses these challenges with its proprietary PLANIX R1 camera system, which integrates a 360° camera with LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) measurements. This system captures thousands of measurements and panoramic images rapidly, generating a comprehensive and verifiable dataset. From this data, it produces floor plans, immersive 3D walkthroughs, CAD-ready outputs, and detailed property information.

Mike Holmes, known for his commitment to quality and transparency, has emphasized the need for accurate data in construction. His team has utilized the iGUIDE PLANIX system for complex renovation projects. Holmes stated, “You can’t make it right without accurate data. I’ve talked for years about building better and building smarter. Technology just caught up. Now builders, inspectors, and homeowners have a tool that measures, documents, and photographs all at once with iGUIDE’s incredible level of precision. I can honestly say this is an amazing product. It blew my mind – it’s easy to use, easy to learn, and my team and trade partners love the results.”

Using iGUIDE allows builders to document every stage of a project, providing clients with a clear record from pre-existing conditions to project completion, which enhances homeowner confidence. The system offers several key benefits, including highly accurate, LiDAR-based measurements, high-resolution 360° imagery, immersive 3D walkthroughs, CAD-ready exports (DWG & RVT), and quick delivery of deliverables within 48–72 hours.

The Holmes team recently used iGUIDE to document a cottage renovation, noting the efficiency of the capture workflow and the quality of the outputs. The system is now integral to their projects, from initial documentation to ongoing progress tracking. According to Mike Holmes, “Since we’ve started using iGUIDE it has saved the Holmes team multiple hours in the renovation process.”

Through this partnership, iGUIDE has been integrated into the Holmes Approved Products family, a program that recommends products supporting quality, safety, and durability for consumers and professionals. Skylar Lawrence-LeBel, VP, Marketing and Customer Experience at iGUIDE, commented, “Whether you’re documenting pre-drywall plumbing and wiring, settling square footage disputes, or creating a homeowner handoff package, iGUIDE gives you one complete, accurate dataset for everything. Mike’s commitment to quality aligns with our mission perfectly, and we’re thrilled to partner with him.”

iGUIDE, developed in Canada, is an end-to-end property data solution designed to help construction, inspection, and design professionals improve efficiency and accuracy. Its PLANIX R1 camera system facilitates the creation of floor plans, 3D walkthroughs, and CAD-ready outputs from a single site scan, aiming to reduce errors and unnecessary site visits.

Mike Holmes is a professional contractor and host of several hit TV series, including Holmes on Homes and Holmes Makes It Right. He is recognized for his advocacy for quality construction, consumer education, and safer building practices across North America.
