GMO GlobalSign Launches LifeCycleX to Automate Digital Certificate Management Amid Shorter Validity Periods.
GMO GlobalSign, a global Certificate Authority, has introduced LifeCycleX, a new certificate lifecycle management (CLM) solution designed to centralize, automate, and secure digital certificate operations for organizations navigating increasingly complex digital ecosystems and shortening certificate lifecycles.
The digital landscape faces significant challenges as the number of certificates grows and validity periods for TLS certificates are set to reduce, potentially to 47 days by 2029. This shift makes manual tracking and management of digital certificates highly labor-intensive and unsustainable for many organizations, which will require constant provisioning, tracking, management, renewal, and auditing of their Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) requirements.
LifeCycleX, the fifth CLM offering from GMO GlobalSign, is engineered to scale from small businesses to large enterprises. It provides a unified platform to discover and manage digital certificates across diverse environments, including Microsoft CAs and EJBCA Open Source CAs, aiming to reduce the risk of outages and ensure compliance with evolving security policies.
The platform simplifies the discovery, issuance, renewal, and revocation of certificates. It features a comprehensive API for automated certificate management, supports F5 and NetScaler devices, and can manage environments utilizing Kubernetes or Open Shift. LifeCycleX automates the discovery of existing certificates, maintains inventory, enforces renewal policies, and streamlines provisioning, while also providing proactive alerts and reports.
Devan Rice, Product Manager at GMO GlobalSign, highlighted the necessity of such solutions: “Organizations can no longer afford fragmented or manual approaches to certificate management. We also recognize that every customer’s needs and environments are different.” Rice added, “LifeCycleX is a powerful addition to our range of CLM products. LifeCycleX empowers IT and security teams with the visibility, automation, and intelligence they need to stay ahead of certificate sprawl and compliance mandates.”Key features include a centralized certificate inventory offering CISO-level visibility into machine identities, multi-platform CA support, automated workflows for issuing certificates via Active Directory templates, and PKI health monitoring with visual dashboards. The system also removes the risk of expired certificates, allowing security teams to focus on higher-value tasks.
