Motive, an AI-powered Integrated Operations Platform, and GEICO, one of the largest insurers in the United States, have announced a partnership to enhance driver safety and reduce insurance costs for businesses managing commercial fleets. This collaboration is part of GEICO’s expansion in the commercial auto sector, reinforcing its commitment to delivering innovative solutions, competitive rates, and comprehensive service to this market.

Under the partnership, new GEICO policyholders who install Motive’s Driver Safety and Fleet Management products and share dash cam and electronic logging device (ELD) data through GEICO’s DriveEasy Pro telematics program are eligible for premium savings of up to 10%.

The commercial vehicle sector has faced increasing premiums, driven by limited competition and escalating jury awards. In 2024, “nuclear verdicts” exceeding $10 million reached record highs, with verdicts over $100 million nearly doubling. Simultaneously, U.

S. roadway fatalities have remained high, with more than 44,000 preventable deaths reported. GEICO and Motive aim to address these trends by combining AI-powered safety and fleet management technology to offer businesses increased choice, improved safety, and reduced costs.

Ian White, Head of Insurance Partnerships at Motive, stated, “Driver safety is central to Motive’s mission to build AI-powered tools that make work safer, more productive, and more profitable. With distracted driving at an all-time high, organizations need AI-powered Driver Safety technology they can trust. Partnering with GEICO turns safety into a business advantage, unlocking risk insights, lowering costs, and most importantly, preventing accidents on the road.”

The program is currently available to new GEICO policyholders in select U.

S. states, with a nationwide expansion planned through 2026. Existing GEICO customers are expected to gain access in the future.

Rishi Arora, Head of Commercial Product & Pricing at GEICO, commented, “As we expand our commercial trucking insurance offerings nationwide, partnerships like this with Motive are essential to delivering the comprehensive protection and value that trucking professionals deserve. Incentivizing GEICO policyholders to install Motive’s safety and fleet management technologies underscores our shared mission for improving road safety.”

GEICO joins over 40 other carriers, Managing General Agents (MGAs), and captives in the Motive Insurance Partner Program. By integrating insurance incentives with Motive’s platform, organizations can gain a real-time, unified view of driver behavior, vehicle health, fuel consumption, maintenance, and expenditures. This integration helps maximize uptime, reduce operational costs, and optimize fleet performance.

Motive’s integrated Driver Safety and Fleet Management products offer fleet managers several capabilities, including collision prevention through detection of risky behaviors like drowsiness, close following, and distracted driving. The platform also facilitates faster claims resolution with automated collision reports that provide real-time data to insurers. The Motive AI Dashcam captures clear video evidence to contest false claims and mitigate costs, while offering full-fleet visibility into driver behavior, vehicle location, and utilization. Additionally, the platform supports effective driver coaching with AI-driven alerts and video-based tools, and simplifies regulatory compliance to meet Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requirements.

GEICO, founded in 1936 and a member of the Berkshire Hathaway family of companies, is the third-largest auto insurer in the U.

S., offering coverage in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Motive empowers companies across various industries, including transportation, logistics, construction, and energy, with tools to manage workers, vehicles, equipment, and fleet-related expenses from a single system, serving nearly 100,000 customers.
