Fiserv and Visa have announced a strategic collaboration to integrate Visa Intelligent Commerce and deploy the Trusted Agent Protocol across Fiserv’s merchant ecosystem, aiming to equip businesses for the emerging landscape of AI-driven Agentic Commerce.
This initiative is designed to empower merchants to participate in Agentic Commerce, where artificial intelligence-driven agents act on behalf of consumers to discover, compare, and purchase products. By combining Visa’s authentication and agentic commerce capabilities with Fiserv’s extensive merchant network, the companies aim to establish the necessary infrastructure and trust for businesses navigating increasingly automated commerce environments.
A key component of this collaboration involves the deployment of the Trusted Agent Protocol across Fiserv’s acceptance ecosystem. This protocol is intended to authenticate, retrieve, accept, and process agentic transactions. The framework is designed to differentiate trusted agents from malicious bots, ensure consumer-authorized interactions with verified intent, and validate the integrity of payment information during checkout. Sanjay Saraf, SVP and Global Chief Product Officer, Merchant Solutions at Fiserv, stated, “Fiserv and Visa are simplifying entry into the Agentic Commerce ecosystem, giving Clover and Fiserv merchants, as well as our ISV and ISO partners, the tools to capitalize on the groundbreaking experiences while fostering trust and safety.”
Beyond transaction acceptance, Fiserv and Visa are focused on enabling the broader potential of intelligent commerce. Visa Intelligent Commerce’s capabilities, alongside Fiserv’s infrastructure, tools, and integration frameworks, aim to allow merchants, Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), and Independent Sales Organizations (ISOs) to embed AI-driven agentic experiences into their workflows without disrupting existing operations. Rubail Birwadker, Global Head of Growth Products and Strategic Partnerships at Visa, commented, “Through Visa Intelligent Commerce and our Trusted Agent Protocol, we are building trust into every layer of the agentic commerce experience. Partners like Fiserv are essential to scaling these secure, innovative solutions for merchants and consumers worldwide.”
Fiserv’s role as an enabler extends beyond payments, encompassing secure connectivity for agent authentication and transaction protection, scalable integration options for businesses to adopt agentic capabilities at their own pace, and operational intelligence to automate dispute resolution and optimize routing in real time. By linking merchants to Visa Intelligent Commerce’s global authentication and tokenization services and facilitating participation from issuers and acquirers in shaping agentic experiences, Fiserv serves as a bridge between the traditional payment ecosystem and the evolving agentic commerce ecosystem.
Both Fiserv and Visa maintain a shared commitment to innovation and supporting merchant success in the changing commerce landscape.
