Employee Navigator has announced the acquisition of Velocity Benefits’ AI-powered plan building software and the introduction of two additional AI features designed to enhance benefits administration for brokers and HR managers. This strategic move aims to leverage artificial intelligence to streamline operations, reduce costs, and expand service offerings within the benefits sector.
The acquisition integrates Velocity Benefits’ proprietary AI product, which extracts plan configuration details from carrier quotes and insurance documents to build plans within the Employee Navigator platform. This tool is set to be fully integrated into Employee Navigator and will be available in the Employee Navigator Marketplace starting October 1, 2025. Velocity Benefits will continue to provide support to brokers until December 31, 2025, after which Employee Navigator will assume full support and maintenance. Joe Duckett, CEO of Velocity Benefits, noted that building an AI-driven plan building solution was a natural progression given the growth of the Employee Navigator platform since 2015, which now supports over 5,000 brokers and 195,000 companies.
In addition to the Velocity acquisition, Employee Navigator is releasing a beta version of its own AI Plan Build tool on October 15, 2025. This tool enables brokers to upload carrier sold quotes and renewals to create plans rapidly, potentially reducing a process that currently takes 3-4 hours down to 10-20 minutes. The new capability is intended to allow brokers to expand revenue by offering additional lines of voluntary benefits through Employee Navigator’s integrated partners and to more cost-effectively provide benefit administration to smaller employers. The beta version will be free for October 2025, with licensing required thereafter, expected to cost between $5-$25 per company depending on plan complexity and document size.
George Reese, Founder and CEO of Employee Navigator, highlighted the significance of AI plan builds, stating they represent one of the most substantial improvements to their business in the last decade, alongside carrier integrations. He emphasized the goal of enabling any company to offer a comprehensive set of benefits, made possible by their suite of services including AI plan builds, carrier integrations, a forms library (from the Enrollease, Inc. acquisition), and payroll integrations. While AI plan builds offer significant efficiency gains today, the company acknowledges that carrier-based APIs represent the long-term solution for optimal accuracy and speed.
Furthermore, Employee Navigator launched its AI Support Assistant on September 15, 2025. This assistant provides brokers and HR managers with quick and accurate answers to support questions, having been trained on tens of thousands of real broker inquiries. The AI team at Employee Navigator reviews every response to continuously enhance accuracy, which currently stands at 97%. Reese emphasized the investment in training the AI tools for accuracy and trust, with daily updates to the AI Assistant.
