DoiT Acquires SELECT, Expands Cloud FinOps Capabilities to Data Platforms
DoiT, a global provider of enterprise-grade FinOps and CloudOps solutions, has announced the acquisition of SELECT, a data optimization company specializing in gaining visibility and control over data platform spend, particularly for Snowflake environments. This acquisition marks a strategic step within DoiT’s previously disclosed $250 million AI investment strategy, building upon earlier acquisitions such as LiveDiagrams, PerfectScale, and CloudWize.
The integration of SELECT’s technology is intended to position DoiT as a comprehensive platform for managing cost, performance, and governance across the modern cloud stack. The company notes that data platforms represent one of the fastest-growing and often least transparent segments of cloud expenditure. While many organizations employ mature tools for infrastructure FinOps, data teams frequently face challenges in managing fluctuating warehouse usage, inefficient queries, and opaque billing processes without adequate automation or governance. SELECT was developed to address these specific issues.
For existing SELECT customers, operations will continue without immediate changes to contracts, pricing, support channels, or product functionality, and the SELECT team will remain responsible for the platform’s development and operation. Over time, these customers will gain access to broader DoiT capabilities and integrations, while maintaining service continuity.
For DoiT customers, SELECT’s technology will be integrated into the DoiT Cloud Intelligence™ platform, to be known as PerfectScale™ for Snowflake. This integration will extend FinOps automation into the data layer, providing deep visibility into Snowflake usage and applying policy-driven automation to reduce waste safely, without compromising performance or data quality.
Vadim Solovey, CEO of DoiT, commented on the acquisition, stating, “Data platforms have become a financial black box for many organizations. With SELECT, we are applying the same automation-first approach that transformed infrastructure FinOps to data platforms. PerfectScale for Snowflake gives customers consistent visibility, governance and optimization across their entire cloud estate, not just compute.”
SELECT, founded by experienced data engineers, is designed to automatically identify inefficiencies such as misconfigured compute resources, inefficient queries, and misaligned resource usage. The platform differentiates itself from traditional reporting tools by continuously enforcing optimization policies in real time, translating detailed query and resource telemetry into clear, actionable business outcomes.
Ian Whitestone, CEO of SELECT, noted, “From day one, our mission was to eliminate data platform waste without creating more work for engineering teams. Joining DoiT allows us to scale that mission globally while accelerating our roadmap to support additional data platforms, including environments like Databricks. Together, we are giving customers a single control plane to manage cost and performance across infrastructure and data.”
Under DoiT, PerfectScale for Snowflake will become a fundamental component of the DoiT Cloud Intelligence platform. This will unify data platform optimization with existing features like budgets, cost allocation, anomaly detection, and automated workflows. Customers are expected to benefit from AI-assisted recommendations that analyze both cloud and data telemetry to execute effective optimization actions. The SELECT team will join DoiT and play a key role in the ongoing development of PerfectScale for Snowflake and DoiT’s broader roadmap for automated data platform optimization.
