Cohesity announced substantial growth and key innovation milestones through its collaboration with Microsoft, focusing on enhancing organizational resilience, accelerating recovery capabilities, and leveraging generative AI at scale.
Cohesity’s business with Microsoft experienced rapid expansion during fiscal year 2025 (August 2024 – July 2025), driven by joint innovation and customer success across the Microsoft Cloud. Cohesity facilitated increased adoption of Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, GitHub, and the Microsoft Marketplace. Joint co-sell engagements with Microsoft grew more than 10 times year-over-year. The collaboration aids customers in sectors such as healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, retail, and the public sector by strengthening data security and enabling AI-driven insights. Cohesity currently serves over 13,000 organizations globally, including nearly 70 percent of the Fortune Global 500, providing enterprise-grade data resilience and AI innovation integrated with Azure, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Security.
Sanjay Poonen, CEO and president of Cohesity, stated, “Our work with Microsoft is transforming how organizations everywhere protect and manage data in the era of AI. Together, Cohesity and Microsoft are building the secure foundation for AI—delivering smarter, safer, and faster outcomes for global customers.”
Key areas of momentum and joint investment include a global go-to-market strategy covering North America, LATAM, Europe, Asia Pacific, and Japan. A strategic partnership agreement involves a multi-year commitment to innovate and accelerate AI and data security solutions for joint customers. Microsoft Marketplace sales saw nearly 200% growth, alongside the more than 10X year-over-year increase in co-sell engagements, collectively boosting customer adoption of Microsoft Cloud and Cohesity.
Cohesity’s internal adoption of Microsoft technology, including Azure OpenAI in Foundry Models, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Microsoft Sentinel, and Microsoft Defender, has led to significant innovations now deployed across global enterprises. Notable integrations include Cohesity Gaia and Microsoft 365 Copilot. Cohesity Gaia, an AI assistant, offers guided workflows, automated remediation, and compliance insights, providing natural language search, classification, and summarization for legal, compliance, and security teams utilizing Azure OpenAI in Foundry Models and Copilot Studio. Additionally, Cohesity DataProtect, along with its threat protection, data classification, and SmartFiles features on Azure, delivers comprehensive data security solutions that integrate Azure-native services for data protection, threat detection, and intelligent data management.
The collaboration has demonstrated real-world impact, such as protecting Bethany Children’s Health Center (BCHC) in Oklahoma. Cohesity and Microsoft partnered to modernize healthcare data security for BCHC, ensuring uninterrupted patient care. Through the implementation of Cohesity on Azure, BCHC achieved AI-powered cyber resilience capable of detecting anomalies and preventing data compromise before recovery. The center also experienced faster ransomware recovery with immutable and AI-scanned restore points across Microsoft 365 and Azure, and improved compliance and audit readiness via PHI/PII classification, HIPAA dashboards, and Microsoft 365 Copilot-driven operations.
Kevin Chambers, Chief Information Executive at Bethany Children’s Health Center, commented, “Partnering with Cohesity has strengthened our security posture and improved our ability to respond to potential threats.”
Cohesity recently expanded its collaboration with Microsoft to further enhance AI-powered, cyber-resilient data management for shared customers. This expansion includes extending cyber resilience to critical Microsoft 365 applications and data, and broadening comprehensive cyber resilience capabilities for Microsoft Azure, Entra ID, and Active Directory.
