Cohesity, a leader in AI-powered data security, announced the availability of its Cohesity Gaia integration with Microsoft 365 Copilot. This integration allows knowledge workers across an organization to access Cohesity backup data directly from the Microsoft 365 Copilot interface, facilitating the extraction of insights to inform business decisions.

Gregory Statton, vice president of AI solutions at Cohesity, stated that significant business insights often remain untapped within organizations’ backup data. He noted that prior to Cohesity Gaia, extracting and utilizing this data for actionable conclusions was challenging. Statton anticipates that the ability for customers to easily mine this resource will be transformative, emphasizing that unifying Cohesity Gaia with Microsoft 365 Copilot helps customers maximize their stored data, enabling diverse enterprise-wide use cases.

Cohesity Gaia is presented as a market innovation designed to unlock the potential of backup data, incorporating generative AI, large language models, and retrieval augmented generation techniques. Through its integration with Microsoft 365 Copilot, users can pose conversational questions via the Microsoft 365 Copilot interface. Cohesity Gaia then searches vast amounts of backup data, identifies critical information, and surfaces actionable insights relevant to any department or job function. To protect sensitive data, responses are limited by granular, role-based access controls, aligning with user permissions.

Chantrelle Nielsen, group product manager for Microsoft 365 Copilot at Microsoft, commented that generative AI has reached a pivotal point for enterprise deployments. She expects the next phase to involve increased AI-to-AI communications and higher expectations for transformative business outcomes. Nielsen indicated that the Microsoft 365 Copilot integration with Cohesity reflects this progression, providing enterprises with more avenues to leverage AI conveniently through a consistent user experience within a single interface.

Jared Crowley, senior director of Security & Software Partners at SHI International Corp., observed the ongoing partnership between Cohesity and Microsoft in safeguarding data and enhancing organizational cyber resilience. He added that this integration further extends the value proposition by making high-quality backup data instantly accessible to users across the enterprise, resulting in faster and more informed decision-making, and maximizing customer investments in both Cohesity and Microsoft.

Cohesity Gaia operates as a subscription-based service. Access to Cohesity Gaia capabilities within Microsoft 365 Copilot is currently available at no additional cost for subscribers of both Cohesity Gaia and Microsoft 365 Copilot.
