Citi Partners with Euronet’s Dandelion for Cross-Border Digital Wallet Payments

Citi has established a new partnership with Euronet Worldwide company Dandelion to enable direct payments to digital wallets across multiple countries. The service integrates Citi’s WorldLink Payment Services, which support over 135 currencies, with Dandelion’s digital wallet network.

Initially, this combined technology will be available for institutional clients to facilitate payments to beneficiaries in the Philippines, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Colombia. The service is designed to process near-instant, full-value payments for various transaction types, including employee payroll, expense reimbursements, customer refunds, and payments to freelance workers.

Dandelion was integrated into Euronet through the $490 million acquisition of Ria Money Transfer in 2007. Ria, initially focused on cash remittances, subsequently expanded its capabilities to include digital account payouts, bank transfers, and mobile wallets. This evolved infrastructure, which now extends across more than 200 countries, was relaunched by Euronet as the Dandelion cross-border payments platform in late 2021.

In related news, Euronet recently announced a deal to acquire US-based CoreCard Corporation for approximately $248 million.
