Circle Internet Group, Inc. has announced a partnership with Polymarket, the world’s largest prediction market, to transition Polymarket’s settlement infrastructure to native USDC, aiming to provide a more capital-efficient and scalable dollar-denominated standard for its users.
Currently, Polymarket utilizes Bridged USDC (USDC.e) on Polygon for all trading collateral. The new collaboration will see Polymarket move to native USDC, which is issued by Circle’s regulated affiliates and is directly redeemable for US dollars on a 1:1 basis. This transition is anticipated to unfold over the coming months.
Jeremy Allaire, Co-Founder, Chairman, and CEO at Circle, highlighted the strategic alignment. “The internet financial system driven by Circle platforms has been built to enable money and capital to work at the speed of the internet, with delightful consumer experiences,” Allaire stated. “Polymarket has been at the forefront of innovation in marrying the speed of information with the speed of markets, and with the partnership we are building, we bring the utility and speed of USDC to provide the best possible experience for Polymarket users.”
Shayne Coplan, Founder and CEO of Polymarket, emphasized the impact on market integrity. “Circle has built some of the most critical infrastructure in crypto, and partnering with them is an important step in strengthening prediction markets,” Coplan noted. “Using USDC supports a consistent, dollar-denominated settlement standard that enhances market integrity and reliability as participation on the platform continues to grow.”
This move aligns with Polymarket’s objective to build a transparent, institutional-grade prediction market, working alongside established financial and market-infrastructure institutions. The collaboration also reflects a broader industry trend within the digital asset ecosystem towards integrating payment stablecoins into trusted, onchain financial systems, thereby introducing traditional financial standards of transparency and settlement efficiency to internet-native markets.
Circle is recognized as a leading internet financial platform company, providing digital assets, payment applications, and programmable blockchain infrastructure, including the USDC stablecoin network. Polymarket operates as a global prediction market where participants forecast outcomes of future events, with market prices serving as real-time indicators of event likelihood.
