Checkout.com has announced a multi-year strategic technology partnership with Microsoft, integrating its enterprise payment platform with Microsoft Azure’s global cloud infrastructure to enhance performance, security, and scalability for enterprise merchants.

The collaboration is designed to combine Checkout.com’s AI-powered payment solutions with Azure’s enterprise-grade cloud capabilities, aiming to provide faster and more secure transactions for global merchants. By leveraging Microsoft Azure’s infrastructure, Checkout.com will augment its capacity to process payments for major brands, including eBay, ASOS, Vinted, Pinterest, and Klarna.

Further benefiting from this integration is Checkout.com’s machine-learning-driven Intelligent Acceptance system. This system learns in real time from transaction data, ensuring that successful payment optimizations are applied across the entire merchant network. This method is intended to increase acceptance rates, reduce operational costs, and create new revenue opportunities for merchants globally.

Mariano Albera, Chief Technology Officer at Checkout.com, commented on the partnership, stating, “We’re thrilled to collaborate with Microsoft and adopt Azure, bringing this mission-critical platform into our technology stack. The Azure platform has leading machine learning capabilities – and Microsoft has long been a pioneer of embedding trust into every layer of cloud innovation so that organizations can build, run and scale critical workloads with absolute confidence. Our combined commitment to relentless innovation sets merchants up for success, enabling them to thrive. And beyond the here and now – enabling them to explore and embrace the agentic commerce models where AI agents search and shop on behalf of consumers.”

Tyler Pichach, Microsoft’s Global Head of Payments for Financial Services, added, “The payments industry is a constant source of AI-powered innovation and by collaborating and co-innovating with Microsoft, Checkout.com will be able to further enhance payment performance for merchants around the world. We are proud to be working with a successful, high growth UK-born fintech to scale even faster, across the globe.”
