Bilt, a membership platform centered on residential living, has acquired Sion, a commission management platform for travel advisors, for $30 million. This acquisition aims to enhance Bilt’s travel rewards offerings by bolstering the infrastructure supporting travel advisors who serve its growing member base.
Bilt’s platform provides members with rewards earning and redemption opportunities, neighborhood services, and pathways to homeownership. Travel has emerged as a popular category for members to utilize their rewards, making the quality of travel experiences a key focus for Bilt.
Sion specializes in resolving commission reconciliation for the travel industry. The platform currently manages over $7 billion in travel booking revenue, serves more than 8,000 travel advisors, and achieves an 85% success rate in invoice follow-ups, contributing to faster payments and operational efficiency for travel businesses.
Through this acquisition, Bilt gains Sion’s technology and team, extending its hospitality platform to include travel advisors. This move is intended to build a network of travel advisors capable of delivering quality travel experiences to Bilt members redeeming their rewards.
Ankur Jain, Founder and CEO of Bilt, stated, “Where you live is where your life is centered, and our job at Bilt is to make that membership as powerful as possible, from your neighborhood to wherever you want to travel. Bilt’s hospitality platform already helps properties and merchants deliver their best customer experience, and with Sion, we’re extending that to travel advisors. By giving travel advisors the tools to run their entire business more effectively, we’re building a network of the world’s best travel advisors, and our members benefit from that.”
This marks Bilt’s second acquisition within 11 months, aligning with its strategy to develop a comprehensive hospitality platform covering the resident experience from housing payments to neighborhood services and now, travel.
Irving Betesh, Co-Founder of Sion, commented, “Travel businesses don’t need another intermediary trying to compete with them. They need modern infrastructure and software that solves real operational problems. Sion has built a best-in-class experience around one of the biggest pain points in travel, commissions. We’re excited to join the Bilt team, allowing us to further accelerate what we can deliver for travel businesses and advisors serving travelers around the world.”
Alfons Musry, Co-Founder of Sion, added, “This is a meaningful milestone for Sion and an even more meaningful step forward for our customers. By joining Bilt, our combined resources and long-term backing can accelerate and actually deliver the product improvements our customers have been asking for. Our customers rely on Sion daily, and that won’t change. What changes is what we’re now able to build.”
Bilt’s platform aims to provide tools for all its partners—residential properties, neighborhood merchants, and travel advisors—to deliver optimal customer experiences. Travel advisors will be able to utilize Bilt’s platform for workflow management, client service, and business growth, with Bilt members representing a high-value audience.
Post-acquisition, Bilt and Sion plan to expedite development in advisor workflows, including commission reconciliation and tracking, invoice follow-up automation, and new booking and payment management tools. Sion will continue operating independently under the leadership of Betesh and Musry, maintaining existing client relationships while leveraging Bilt’s platform for expanded capabilities.
Bilt, launched in 2021, operates as a membership and hospitality platform for the residential ecosystem. It enables members to earn rewards on housing payments and access services, with redemptions available across travel, lifestyle, and other sectors. The Bilt Alliance encompasses over 6 million homes in partnership with major residential owners and operators.
