BiggerPockets, an education platform for real estate investors, has formed a strategic partnership with Baselane, a financial platform designed for rental property owners. This collaboration aims to address common challenges faced by investors in managing day-to-day property finances, which often include fragmented workflows, manual processes, and financial errors.
The partnership provides BiggerPockets’ three million members with direct access to Baselane’s banking services, which incorporate AI-powered bookkeeping and automated rent collection. This integration seeks to streamline and automate rental finance management for investors.
Michael Calvey, Head of Sales at BiggerPockets, stated, “We’re solving the number one friction point in real estate investing, the handoff between learning and doing.” He added that integrating a banking platform built for real estate investors transforms BiggerPockets into an operating system for rental property success, moving beyond its role as solely an education resource.
Mathias Korder, CEO of Baselane, commented, “This partnership gives the BiggerPockets community the financial tools to help them turn their knowledge into more profitable and efficient operations, by automating and simplifying their rental property finances.” Korder described the collaboration as a natural evolution within proptech, where education, analysis, and execution converge.
This initiative targets a substantial market, with the property management software sector projected to reach $52 billion by 2032. The market includes approximately 11 million individual investors managing 25 million rental units nationwide. Industry data indicates that 73% of investors dedicate over five hours monthly to property bookkeeping, and rent collection remains a primary operational challenge.
Key features delivered through this integration include banking services tailored for real estate, such as checking and high-yield savings accounts designated for each property to organize finances and automate payments. The platform also offers automated bookkeeping for income and expense categorization by property, rent collection, and vendor payments, which is estimated to save investors over 150 hours annually. Additionally, users gain access to real-time insights through live cash flow tracking and property-level financial reports, enhancing decision-making and potentially mitigating errors. The system also automates the generation of Schedule E reports and year-end tax packages, aiming to reduce bookkeeping and accounting costs.
BiggerPockets Pro members will receive premium upgrades, including higher APY tiers and free wire transfers. Furthermore, these members will gain complimentary access to advanced, AI-powered features scheduled for release in early Q3.
Founded in 2004, BiggerPockets operates as an online community and resource for real estate investors, serving over 3 million members with educational content, tools, and networking opportunities. The platform has reportedly facilitated $30 billion in self-reported transactions and produces a widely listened-to podcast with over 150 million downloads.
