Paso Robles, California-based BevLogic, initially founded in 1997 as Compli, aims to become a premier regulatory compliance provider in the beverage alcohol sector. The company offers a comprehensive suite of solutions, including software, returns and reporting, licensing, and product registration, designed to assist beverage alcohol producers in meeting their regulatory requirements. Rachel Dumas Rey, the founder of BevLogic, will serve as the Chief Executive Officer.
Performant Capital, a Chicago-based private equity firm that partners with software and technology-enabled service companies, facilitated the acquisition. Michael Ciaglia, a Partner at Performant Capital, stated the investment underscores the firm’s commitment to supporting founders who have developed mission-critical software, where Performant Capital’s operational expertise can contribute to future growth. He highlighted the attractiveness of the beverage alcohol industry’s comprehensive regulatory compliance solution, which incorporates returns, licensing, and product registration offerings.

The transaction specifically excludes AvaTax for Beverage Alcohol, a cloud-based sales tax calculation product, which will remain under Avalara’s ownership. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Performant Capital focuses on investments in technology-driven companies within the lower middle market, spanning software, technology-enabled services, and data intelligence products. The firm seeks opportunities where its investing and operating experience can significantly enhance performance.
