Ben Chisell officially assumed the role of Group CEO at payments platform Paysend on September 18, 2025. He takes over from company co-founder Ronald Millar, who will transition into a director position this month.

Chisell initially joined Paysend in August 2021 as Chief Product Officer, later advancing to President in January of this year. His previous experience includes serving as a product director during the foundational stages of Starling Bank and as VP of Product at UK challenger OakNorth.

This leadership change occurs as Paysend positions itself for global expansion, according to the company. The transition is designed to ensure operational continuity during this strategic period.

Paysend provides cross-border payment solutions for both individuals and businesses, multicurrency accounts, and international money transfers to over 170 countries. As CEO, Chisell’s responsibilities will encompass real-time money movement, enterprise liquidity solutions, and the continued development of the Open Payment Network (OPN).

The Open Payment Network (OPN) is a solution developed by Paysend in collaboration with Mastercard over the past two years. It aims to facilitate near real-time cross-border payments for businesses through a unified global network that connects various local payment systems worldwide.

Mastercard made an undisclosed investment in Paysend as part of this partnership. This investment was included in a $65 million funding round in 2023, which also involved existing financial backers TelevisaUnivision, Infravia Growth Capital, One Peak, and Hermes GPE Innovation Fund.
