Arctera, a global leader in data management, has released updates to its Arctera Insight Platform designed to mitigate compliance risks associated with artificial intelligence deployments for highly regulated organizations. These enhancements aim to provide necessary controls for AI usage, particularly with public AI tools.
Many organizations, especially those in highly regulated sectors, face challenges maximizing AI opportunities due to difficulties in managing and controlling its use. Common concerns include monitoring shared prompts, recording AI usage, and preventing accidental uploads of sensitive data. The new capabilities within Arctera Insight address these issues by enabling organizations to capture input and output from Large Language Models (LLMs), chronicle AI data by integrating it with broader employee data for corporate insight, and contain sensitive data uploads to public AI tools.
Soniya Bopache, GM and VP of Data Compliance at Arctera, stated, “AI is fundamentally changing how organizations operate, which brings a new kind of governance challenge. Arctera Insight gives compliance teams the control they’ve been missing, so they can manage AI-generated content with the same clarity as any other information. Arctera Insight is delivering the three Cs of AI governance – empowering organizations to capture, chronicle and contain their AI data.”
The “Capture” functionality allows Arctera Insight to now capture data from LLMs such as ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot, addressing a compliance blind spot. This augments the platform’s existing capability to capture over 120 different data sources, including modern messaging applications like WhatsApp, Google Messages, and Microsoft Teams.
For “Chronicle,” Arctera Insight introduces InsightBooks, an AI-powered feature designed to intelligently summarize information from various communication channels, including messages, chats, meeting transcripts, and AI prompts submitted to LLMs. InsightBooks can provide context and reveal patterns that might otherwise be overlooked in communication volume, supporting the creation of weekly summaries, status reports, and action-item lists in response to standard or user-submitted prompts.
Regarding “Contain,” Arctera Insight now allows organizations to lift blanket prohibitions on public LLM use, enabling access to the transformational benefits of AI. A free browser plug-in is available to mask any sensitive information that team members might inadvertently attempt to include in an LLM prompt. This facilitates the use of LLMs while ensuring sensitive data remains protected and compliance is maintained.
Rajeev Gupta, Head of Partner and Product at Zones, commented, “Many of our customers want to expand their investment in AI, but they have concerns over compliance. Arctera is giving a clear path forward, enabling AI data to be governed with the same discipline as other information. Being able to capture and review tools like Copilot means no one is guessing, they’re managing risk in real-time.”
