American Express announced on September 15, 2025, the launch of new digital tools, including the Amex Travel App and Amex Passport, alongside enhancements to its Centurion Lounge service, designed to streamline and personalize the travel experience for its Card Members. American Express, headquartered in New York, is a global payments and premium lifestyle brand.
The Amex Travel App is positioned as an all-in-one platform for travel planning and booking. A recent American Express survey indicated that 81% of respondents desire an integrated app for booking and inspiration, while 52% reported feeling overwhelmed by travel choices. The app aims to address these concerns by offering themed guides, curated content for destination inspiration, and smart planning tools that allow Card Members to organize trip details in one location, reducing the need to visit multiple websites. American Express Travel President Audrey Hendley stated, “For over a century, Amex has been a trusted travel partner, and now we’re putting all the elements of creating unforgettable travel experiences – from discovering inspired destinations, to booking and trip management – directly into our Card Members’ hands.” The app will be available to iOS users starting September 18, with an Android version following a few weeks later. It will enable efficient booking of flights, hotels, and car rentals, a feature particularly relevant as 56% of Millennial and Gen Z respondents reported spending at least four hours planning trips. Users can access properties in the Fine Hotels + Resorts® and The Hotel Collection programs. Future updates are expected to include personalized hotel recommendations and detailed overviews of travel and Card benefits.
American Express also introduced Amex Passport, a feature for U.
S. Consumer Card Members to digitally commemorate their travels. This initiative responds to a survey finding that 73% of respondents want more digital methods to remember past trips, and 56% miss physical passport stamps. Amex Passport allows eligible Card Members to earn customizable digital Stamps each time they conduct international transactions, visually representing visited countries or regions. Luke Gebb, Executive Vice President at Amex Digital Labs, commented, “As physical passport stamps continue to disappear, Amex Passport creates an opportunity for Card Members to celebrate their travels.” These digital Stamps can be shared on social media, sent via text, and customized with specific trip highlights, such as a standout meal or activity. Each Stamp is secured as a unique digital collectible on a public blockchain, preserving travel history. Card Members can access Amex Passport within the Amex app under Account -> Settings -> Try New Features.
Additionally, American Express has enhanced the Centurion Lounge experience by integrating estimated wait times into the Centurion Lounge Digital Waitlist when a lounge reaches capacity. This update is designed to assist travelers in planning their lounge visits more effectively, contributing to a more streamlined airport experience.
These new digital offerings collectively aim to make the travel experience easier, smarter, and more personalized for American Express Card Members, addressing various stages of the travel journey from initial planning to post-trip reflection.
