Allianz Global Assistance Canada has partnered with Air Doctor, a telemedicine platform, to integrate virtual and in-person medical services, aiming to provide its insured travelers with improved healthcare access across more than 80 countries.
The collaboration is designed to offer a faster and more convenient way for international travelers to schedule medical appointments while abroad. By incorporating Air Doctor’s digital booking system, Allianz Global Assistance Canada is enabling its customers to access virtual and in-person consultations, facilitating the management of common illnesses and injuries during international trips.
This new service aligns with Allianz Global Assistance Canada’s commitment to delivering innovative travel solutions that address the evolving needs of modern travelers. Customers holding medical travel insurance benefits will receive an email prior to their trip, providing details on how to book appointments through a co-branded Allianz Global Assistance-Air Doctor website or mobile application.
The service aims to ensure that insured travelers can seek medical care without the burden of upfront costs or extensive paperwork. Air Doctor’s platform offers a cashless, claimless experience, including virtual and in-person doctor visits with multilingual options. Additionally, the platform can arrange local prescriptions where available and permits up to two doctor visits per person per trip without requiring upfront payments or prior approvals.
Allianz Global Assistance Canada’s in-house medical team provides support throughout this process, advising and assisting travelers to ensure appropriate care is scheduled. This partnership strengthens Allianz Global Assistance Canada’s existing virtual care network and guided care capabilities, offering customers greater reassurance when traveling internationally. The initiative also underscores Air Doctor’s expanding role in streamlining global healthcare access for insured travelers.
Riccardo Iacovino, Vice President, Medical Operations & Provider Management at Allianz Global Assistance, stated, “We are excited to introduce this significant enhancement to our assistance services, designed to make travel more seamless and enjoyable for our valued customers. By integrating our team of in-house medical experts with the Air Doctor visit scheduling tool, we offer travelers the reassurance and support they need to confidently explore the world, knowing that quality medical care is readily accessible.”Jenny Cohen Derfler, CEO and Co-founder of Air Doctor, commented, “We are pleased to offer Allianz Global Assistance customers quick and efficient access to medical care while traveling. Our app delivers a cashless, claimless experience – no paperwork, no out-of-pocket expenses – so the entire insurance process is handled seamlessly in-app. Travelers can focus on their trip, knowing their healthcare needs are taken care of.”
