AI-Native Law Firm Soxton Raises $2.5 Million Pre-Seed Funding to Automate Startup Legal Services

Soxton, an AI-native law firm focused on automating early-stage legal services, has announced it has exited stealth mode with $2.5 million in pre-seed funding. This round was led by Moxxie Ventures, with participation from Strobe, Coalition, Caterina Fake, and Flex, aimed at making expert legal support accessible and efficient for startups.

The traditional legal system is often ill-suited for startup founders due to its slow, expensive, and opaque nature, primarily operating on a billable hour model. Soxton aims to transform this by providing a transparent, intuitive, and founder-friendly platform for legal services.

Before its public launch, Soxton assisted over 270 businesses with incorporation, equity, fundraising, and compliance. The platform achieves this by automating repetitive legal tasks, complemented by human attorney oversight. On average, customers have reported saving $45,000 in legal fees within their first month of using Soxton.

Soxton was founded by Logan Brown, a Harvard J.

D., former Cooley LLP lawyer, and serial startup founder. Brown’s mission is to foster a generational shift in the legal industry, drawing from her experiences building startups and observing the inefficiencies of large law firms to empower entrepreneurs in managing their legal processes.

CEO and Founder Logan Brown stated, “Until now, no one had started a company to become smarter at legal contracts. We’re giving founders back their time and, in effect, their money, to focus on what matters – scaling world-changing companies.” She added, “Startups shouldn’t have to pay thousands of dollars and wait days for answers they need in minutes. Soxton blends the efficiency of AI with the judgment of lawyers, making legal a partner in company-building instead of a roadblock. On average, we’re saving founders over $3,000 per basic contract.”

Soxton offers a library of over fifty startup-ready contracts and an AI legal copilot, custom-trained on startup data, that uses plain English. The platform enables startups to streamline routine legal work, from incorporation to advisor grants, through automated workflows. It also provides a library of over 400 clauses, featuring intent-based suggestions, and supports uploading existing templates.

A prominent tool allows founders and operators to request custom contracts with lawyer review. Founders can edit contracts using natural language, instantly flag risks, and access tools that translate legal jargon. For situations requiring nuance or negotiation, Soxton facilitates seamless attorney briefing, aiming to save founders time and significant legal fees while maintaining expertise.

Katie Jacobs Stanton, Founder and General Partner of Moxxie Ventures, commented, “I’ve never heard founders say ‘yes’ so quickly to a service like Soxton. Soxton is solving a pain point that every founder knows too well – costly, opaque, and slow legal services.” She emphasized, “The combination of AI and human legal judgment is immediately beneficial for companies at the earlier stage, but is also strategic for growth stage founders that don’t yet need to have a law firm on retainer.”

With its recent funding, Soxton plans to expand its AI platform, grow its contract library and proprietary contract dashboard, and extend its services to thousands of founders across the U.
