Aegir Insights, a provider of renewable energy investment intelligence and software, has announced the expansion of its Aegir Quant™ solution to include advanced investment modeling capabilities for onshore wind, solar PV, energy storage, and hybrid assets, moving beyond its initial focus on offshore wind.
The expansion is described as a significant advancement in the company’s objective to serve as a comprehensive system of record for renewable investment management. Aegir Quant™ is designed to provide a standardized framework for evaluating projects and portfolios, supporting bankability and offering a common reference point for various stakeholders including governments, developers, and suppliers.
Scott Urquhart, CEO of Aegir Insights, stated, “We now offer the market a unique solution which can instantly evaluate projects and portfolios across onshore, offshore, storage, and hybrid assets – using a standardized framework that supports bankability and provides a common reference point for governments, developers, and suppliers alike.”
Aegir Insights currently supports energy transition developers, investors, and suppliers in commercial decision-making across capital allocation, asset optimization, and portfolio management. Government agencies also utilize Aegir Insights’ offerings for independent benchmarking within the competitive industry landscape. Aegir Quant™ integrates high-fidelity techno-economic modeling with financial engineering to enable more efficient, transparent, and confident capital deployment across renewable portfolios.
As renewable energy increases its share in the global power sector, challenges such as integration, bankability, and system resilience have become more pronounced. Hybrid renewable-storage systems, which combine wind, solar, and energy storage, are emerging as a solution to these challenges, simultaneously enhancing investor returns.
The expanded Aegir Quant™ solution specifically addresses the complexities of renewable hybridization—the combination of wind and/or solar generation with battery storage—by offering transparent, commercial benchmarking for design, financing, and operational support.
Urquhart added, “Hybridization is transforming the economics of renewables and improving energy security. By combining advanced modeling with real-world market intelligence, we’re enabling clients to rapidly evaluate hybrid project configurations and understand how storage can increase capture prices and unlock new revenue streams.” This capability is particularly relevant as the deployment of renewables grows, and capture prices for standalone wind and solar assets face increased pressure.
The development of the expanded Aegir Quant™ is based on a two-year R&D initiative completed in 2025. This initiative was conducted in partnership with Vattenfall, the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), and Energy Cluster Denmark, and received innovation funding through Denmark’s Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Programme (EUDP).
Aegir Insights is collaborating with government agencies, developers, and investors across European, North American, and Asia Pacific markets to implement the enhanced Aegir Quant™ capabilities in real-world portfolios, with a focus on bankability, portfolio optimization, and system resilience.
Rikke Nørgaard, CCO of Aegir Insights, commented, “Our work with forward-thinking partners across Europe, North America and Asia Pacific shows how data-driven modeling can accelerate renewable deployment.”
