ACI Worldwide (NASDAQ:ACIW), a global payments technology provider, has announced the acquisition of Payment Components, a company specializing in AI-powered financial messaging and Open Banking solutions. This acquisition aims to integrate Payment Components’ technology into ACI Connetic, accelerating the development roadmap of ACI’s cloud-native unified payments platform.
Payment Components, founded in Greece in 2014, develops software for account-to-account (A2A) payments, API management, and financial messaging. Its technology is designed to streamline transaction orchestration and enhance back-office connectivity, facilitating the deployment of localized payment schemes. The company serves 65 banks and institutions across 25 countries and utilizes generative AI to simplify payment processes.
The integration of Payment Components’ technology will enhance ACI Connetic, which is designed as a modular cloud-native architecture that combines A2A payments, card processing, and AI-powered fraud prevention. The acquisition includes Payment Components’ technology, intellectual property, talent, and customer relationships. The Payment Components team will work with ACI’s architects and developers to integrate expanded messaging features into ACI Connetic.
Thomas Warsop, CEO and president of ACI Worldwide, stated that the acquisition will strengthen ACI Connetic’s capabilities, setting a new standard for how banks approach payment transformation. He also noted the talent of the Payment Components team, emphasizing their dedication to innovation aligns with ACI’s vision for the future of payments.
Sotiris Nossis, CEO and Founder of Payment Components, commented on the acquisition as an important milestone that reinforces the company’s credibility in enabling financial institutions to adopt modern payment technologies. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed and are not expected to be financially material to ACI Worldwide. ACI Worldwide has 50 years of experience in payments technology, providing software solutions for intelligent payments orchestration to banks, billers, and merchants.
