Mercado Libre (NASDAQ: MELI) has released the latest episode of its “Inside Mercado Libre” Investor Relations podcast, featuring Andy Anavi, Senior VP of Fintech Services, who discussed the strategic evolution of Mercado Pago from a payments wallet to a comprehensive digital bank and its growth opportunities, emphasizing its aim to become the primary financial relationship for its 72 million active users.
The episode, titled “Fintech Services with Andy Anavi,” features Richard Cathcart, Investor Relations Director, in conversation with Mr. Anavi. The discussion highlighted Mercado Pago’s transformation and its current position, which includes leading Net Promoter Scores (NPS) in Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina.
A key focus of the conversation was “principality,” Mercado Pago’s strategy to become the main financial service provider for its users. Mr. Anavi articulated the vision: “We aim to become the largest digital bank in Latin America… not only in terms of the number of users but also in terms of engagement or relationship depth. Our ambition is to have primary relationships with our users. I believe the opportunity is really huge. It’s huge even if you only consider our current user base.”
The podcast also explored the transformative potential of Generative AI (Gen AI) within financial services, particularly in areas like underwriting and personalized financial advisory. Mr. Anavi noted the advancements, stating, “With LLMs, we will be able to get much stronger signals from all the information we are currently collecting.”
