Charles Schwab has announced significant updates to its trading platforms, including Schwab.com, Schwab Mobile, and thinkorswim®, introducing new features designed to support a growing retail trading client base that has driven over seven million daily average trades for three consecutive quarters.
These enhancements aim to expand Schwab’s comprehensive trading ecosystem, offering a wide array of products, platforms, educational resources, and 24-hour support. James Kostulias, Managing Director and Head of Trading Services at Charles Schwab, emphasized the company’s commitment to client feedback. He stated that Schwab continuously adds new features and resources to serve clients as the retail trading landscape evolves.
Updates now available across both Schwab.com and Schwab Mobile include a modernized Positions page that offers increased responsiveness, customization, and comprehensive streaming quotes and data. A new Extended Hours Valuation toggle allows clients to view position-level Gain/Loss, Day Change, and Market Value based on either regular market close or extended hours valuations. Additionally, clients can now access over 15 new data points for Fundamentals & Research Ratings, such as EPS Growth, Revenue Growth, and Return on Equity, alongside independent research ratings from CFRA, Morningstar, Reuters, and Argus.
On Schwab.com, specific enhancements have been rolled out to improve order management and research. The Saved Orders function now supports multi-leg options, complementing existing support for stocks, ETFs, and single-leg options, with orders placeable on SnapTicket® and the All-in-One Trade Ticket. Option Chains have been updated with sortable columns for Calls, Puts, and Complex Option Chains, and users can now enter Custom Strike Intervals for Verticals, Diagonals, and Strangles. For historical data, Research Stock, ETF, or Indices profile pages now feature a Table View for charts, along with export functionality.
The thinkorswim Platform Suite has also received several new capabilities. Users can now manage the display and order of multiple accounts within their household view, with the desktop version allowing accounts to be hidden or unhidden and reordered. Custom column sets can be created, saved, and applied across watchlists and the Positions Statement. Enhanced Portfolio Management allows for viewing individual tax lots under the Lot Detail tab, enabling review of holdings by tax lots and customization of tax lot treatment. Furthermore, thinkorswim mobile now includes Cash and Sweep Vehicle History, offering a ledger of transactions and their impact on overall cash balance, with filtering options by time period and transaction type. A new filtering option in the Live News gadget enables clients to select or deselect specific news sources. For futures traders, Schwab has expanded its offerings with 17 new futures products, including 1 OZ Gold (/1OZ), Solana (/SOL), and Micro Solana (/MSL).
Beyond platform features, Charles Schwab is expanding its in-branch support for active trader clients. The firm maintains a network of nearly 400 retail branches across the U.
S. and has introduced two new roles: Regional Trading Consultants, focused on education and trading expertise to support Schwab’s Financial Consultants, and Senior Engagement Managers, who provide clients with advanced trading education, platform expertise, and broader investment consultations.
