CoPlane Secures $14M Seed Round to Modernize Enterprise Back-Office Operations with AI-Native Platform

CoPlane, a company developing AI-native software to optimize back-office functions for essential enterprises, has announced the completion of a $14 million seed funding round led by Ribbit, with participation from Stripe, Optum Ventures, and Terrain.

The global Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) market, valued at over $80 billion, primarily relies on systems designed decades ago. These systems are often characterized by complexity, high implementation costs, and a reliance on extensive consulting and manual processes. CoPlane aims to address these challenges by introducing an AI-native platform designed to replace and consolidate legacy ERP infrastructure for large enterprises.

Chris Sperandio, CoPlane co-founder and CEO, highlighted the stagnant state of enterprise back offices. “Across the S&P 500, G&A spend as a percentage of revenue hasn’t budged in decades—hovering at around 15%,” Sperandio stated. He added that CoPlane is built to provide enterprises in sectors such as technology, supply chain, manufacturing, healthcare, and financial services with the operational leverage previously exclusive to technology companies with custom systems.

Sperandio’s experience as Lead Product Architect at Segment and later leading product acceleration at Stripe exposed him to the inefficiencies of sprawling ERP systems. He, along with co-founders Scott and Victor, initially collaborated with enterprise design partners to develop solutions for data harmonization and manual process automation, forming the basis of CoPlane’s platform.

Jordan Angelos, Partner at Ribbit, commented on the hidden costs associated with back-office complexity. “CoPlane’s AI engine transforms legacy ERP-adjacent workflows into agentic applications that scalably get work done,” Angelos explained, noting that significant demand from essential industries indicates a readiness for change.

CoPlane is currently collaborating with design partners and customers, including OI Infusion and Red Ventures, across industries like industrials, healthcare services, and late-stage technology. Early deployments have demonstrated the automation of high-friction processes such as invoice exception handling and sales order entry, reportedly saving thousands of hours of manual labor. The platform enables customers to deploy functional systems in days rather than years, while maintaining full control over their data within their own cloud environments.

Joseph Brunink, CEO of OI Infusion Services, affirmed the platform’s impact. “CoPlane has fundamentally elevated the way our organization operates,” Brunink said. He noted that within months, CoPlane’s platform and team significantly enhanced the impact of their internal IT and operations groups, allowing them to scale back-office infrastructure efficiently alongside their clinical footprint. Brunink praised the team’s hands-on approach, which he stated delivered production-level solutions for complex workflows in finance, accounting, and procurement.
