San Francisco-based Metronome, a monetization infrastructure platform, has announced significant new product capabilities designed to help modern software companies connect value delivery to revenue generation, particularly for usage-based and hybrid business models prevalent in the AI economy.
As artificial intelligence and automation reshape software delivery, traditional billing systems often struggle to keep pace with products that evolve continuously. Static pricing models and monthly billing cycles can become obsolete when value is dynamic and usage fluctuates. Metronome aims to bridge this gap by providing infrastructure purpose-built for the AI economy, connecting usage, pricing, and billing in real time to monetize value as it is delivered.
The platform currently processes billions of usage events monthly for companies such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Anyscale, and NVIDIA, providing accuracy and real-time visibility at a global scale. Sam Lee, VP of Pricing Strategy & Product Operations at Hubspot, commented, “Metronome uniquely gives companies the flexibility to evolve and experiment with new models that reflect real customer usage and value. This isn’t just about efficiency; it’s about building a pricing model that matches the way our customers need to grow. Agility with monetization is what will separate leaders from the laggards in this new era of AI.”
This launch introduces new capabilities across pricing model support, invoicing, and data transparency. For pricing, Metronome now enables teams to launch, adapt, and manage pricing across various go-to-market motions without requiring engineering support. New features include seat-based credits, which combine seat access with usage or credit consumption, account hierarchy for enterprise-grade billing operations, and packages that offer flexible plan templates for product-led growth (PLG) teams to experiment with and scale self-serve pricing.
Metronome’s enhanced invoicing engine and native cloud marketplace integrations aim to streamline billing operations across PLG, sales-led growth (SLG), and marketplace channels. It supports payments for PLG, generates contract-based invoices with native ERP synchronization for SLG, and integrates with cloud marketplaces like GCP, AWS, and Azure. Jooree Na, CFO of Anyscale, stated, “Metronome unifies billing across our self-serve, enterprise, and marketplace motions, empowering our team with a single source of truth and our customers with real-time visibility into usage. This enabled us to launch Anyscale on AWS, GCP, and Azure marketplaces in weeks instead of months, freeing our team to focus on advancing Anyscale’s mission: helping companies unleash the full potential of AI.”
To enhance customer experience and transparency in a usage-based environment, Metronome has introduced a new Cost Preview API, in-product invoicing, and lifecycle notifications. These features allow customers to view live cost estimates before actions, pay invoices directly within the product, and receive proactive notifications on contract milestones, fostering trust and improving retention.
Scott Woody, Co-Founder and CEO of Metronome, remarked, “AI is reshaping how software delivers and captures value, and companies need monetization infrastructure that can evolve just as quickly. This launch is about giving every company—from AI-native startups to global enterprises—the foundation to adapt pricing quickly, automate billing, and deliver transparency to customers at scale.”
