Paysafe Expands Peruvian Presence with Launch of PagoEfectivo Digital Wallet

Paysafe (NYSE: PSFE), a global payments platform, has expanded its presence in Peru with the evolution of PagoEfectivo, its established eCash brand, into a digital wallet. This marks PagoEfectivo’s first digital wallet offering in Latin America.

The new PagoEfectivo wallet enables users to instantly load funds, make online purchases, receive immediate payouts from participating merchants, transfer money to others, and complete payments using a unique code (CIP). PagoEfectivo has been a prominent eCash payments provider in Latin America, facilitating millions of online transactions for consumers.

Bruce Lowthers, CEO of Paysafe, commented on the development: “Consumers in Peru already trust PagoEfectivo for everything from iGaming and digital goods to travel and eCommerce. With the launch of our new digital wallet, we’re giving them a more convenient way to pay.” Esteban Sarubbi, Vice President, Head of Latin America at Paysafe, added, “Our recent survey with Peruvian consumers found that 81% would use a digital wallet from PagoEfectivo. With that strong sign, we’re launching a solution that meets consumers’ payment needs.”

In conjunction with the launch, PagoEfectivo introduced Peruvian actor Carlos Alcántara (Cachín) as its new brand ambassador. Alcántara is featured in a nationwide campaign across TV, digital platforms, outdoor, and out-of-home placements, highlighting the convenience of the new PagoEfectivo wallet.

To further engage consumers, PagoEfectivo hosted an interactive event, the “PagoEfectivo Universe,” in Lima from July 10 to 26. Located at Av. Manuel Olguin 249, Santiago de Surco, the space allowed visitors to participate in games, simulate in-app payments, and engage with celebrities and influencers.

The new PagoEfectivo wallet is initially available on Google Play for Android devices, which constitute approximately 86% of Peruvian smartphone users. Plans for an iOS version and additional features are underway. Further information, including details on promotions such as VIP experiences with Peruvian soccer teams and cashback offers, can be found via PagoEfectivo’s Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook channels.

Paysafe, with 29 years of online payment experience, reported an annualized transactional volume of $152 billion in 2024. The company employs approximately 3,000 individuals across more than 12 countries, connecting businesses and consumers across 260 payment types in 48 currencies.
