Geniez AI, a company focused on connecting Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI Agents with real-time mainframe data, has announced it secured $6 million in seed funding. The funding round was co-led by StageOne Ventures and Canapi Ventures.

Geniez AI’s framework facilitates the integration of LLMs and AI agents with mainframe data sources in real-time. This aims to enable enterprises to utilize their mainframe data for AI-driven analysis, automation, and intelligent decision-making, addressing historical connectivity challenges between mainframe systems and modern AI applications. The company states this approach can help businesses enhance customer experiences, improve operational efficiency, and generate new revenue streams without the need for data migration or significant infrastructure modernization expenses.

Gil Peleg, Co-founder and CEO of Geniez AI, commented on the significance of mainframes: “Mainframes are at the heart of the global economy, holding the most up to date transaction data as well as decades of historical data which are extremely valuable for AI.” He added, “We’re giving enterprises the best of both worlds: the power and trust of the mainframe with the innovation and velocity of the AI ecosystem.”

The Geniez AI framework uses standard GenAI protocols, such as Model Content Protocol (MCP), and operates natively on the mainframe. It provides real-time data access to LLMs and AI agents operating on-premises or in public cloud environments, including platforms like OpenAI ChatGPT, Anthropic Claude, or Meta Llama. This technology targets enterprises in sectors such as finance, insurance, retail, government, and healthcare that are increasing their investments in GenAI.

Neil Underwood, Co-founder and General Partner at Canapi Ventures, stated, “AI is no longer a luxury for financial institutions and with most banks running on mainframes, Geniez AI is tackling a pain point that will unlock major value for them.” Yuval Cohen, Founder and Managing Partner at StageOne Ventures, noted the team’s background: “The Geniez AI team has a proven track record of innovation in the mainframe space, previously founding Model9 (acquired by BMC Software in May 2023) and we’re excited to partner with them again.”

The newly secured funding will be allocated to scaling Geniez AI’s engineering and go-to-market teams. Additionally, the company plans to expand its partnerships within the enterprise technology sector and deepen integration with key GenAI platforms.
